2. Before Sunrise (1995): You might have read a number of romantic novels, and you might have been a huge fan of the SRK brand of films. You might have imagined your dream date in life. And also, you might have heard or perceived what or how romantic it could be. But if you want to experience it within one and a half hours, this is it! Period. Just imagine if the greatest romance of your life lasts only for a day. You are spending a gorgeous evening with an even more gorgeous girl in the romantic streets of Vienna, but you both know this is your accidental meeting and, in all probability, your first and last outing together. Because before sunrise, you both will be apart. Arguably one of the best romantic movies of all time, this movie definitely shows the number of dimensions on various topics like love, sex, future predictions, and the existence of God, just through the conversation of two central (and the only) characters. I personally suggest that the optimal viewing time is in the late evening, just prior to sunrise, without any interruptions.

.......................

Summer time means vacation time... Vacation time means fun time. Fun time means movie time. Being a passionate movie lover, I have a lot to talk about. Also, it is not possible to mention all of my favorite movies. But considering the summer context in mind, I am presenting a minimal list here of my all-time favorites from different genres, syncing with the summer mood. So here we go...

1. Elizabethtown (2004): Some movies want you to track the flow; some movies require you to stick to the flow; but some movies just want you to ‘float’ in the flow, nothing else. A highly successful ad maker at a multinational company suddenly gets fired because of a huge advertisement failure. His reputation and career are in serious trouble. So our buddy decides to commit suicide. But he is highly creative; he thinks of a number of innovative ways to enjoy the “death process." But fortunately, he receives a home call about his beloved father’s death. So he decides to postpone the death program to attend the father’s cremation. Now here starts his real journey of rediscovering life. On the way, he meets beautiful, witty Claire. With her, she starts doing stupid things. Spending time with her makes him identify different colors of life, which leads him to identify his love and eventually his true self. This movie is just like a river; you don’t have to remember what has happened or worry about what will happen. Just be in the current moment of it; you will find it so beautiful and happening. This awesomely penned story about the journey of a guy attending the death ceremony slowly and wonderfully shows how he discovers the joy of life while experiencing little crazy moments along the way. Our Rishis say, “Go inside; you will get your answer.” But after this movie, it also seems that “we should go outside too” (probably to get more than an answer... One of the nuggets of very few but wonderful movies (like Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, and Vanilla Sky) from this maverick idiosyncratic director, Cameron Crowe.
TO be continued..
