મૃત્યુ એટલે.
આ માછલીની
આંખમાં ઠરી જતો સમય

મૃત્યુ એટલે
આ શાસ્ત્રી બાગના બાંકડે
ચિરનિદ્રામાં પોઢી ગયેલ વૃદ્ધના
મુખ પર ઝળકતી શાંતિ

મૃત્ય એટલે
આ અકસ્માતમાં
લોહી-માંસનો લોચો બની ગયેલ
મા ને તાકતા અવાક બાળકની
આંખમાં વ્યાપતો સુનકાર !!!

મૃત્યુ એટલે
કોઈ ધનિકના દરવાજે
દાન-પુણ્ય લેવા ભેગા થયેલ
ભિખારીઓની કતાર

મૃત્યુ એટલે
આસન્નમૃત્યુ જુવાનની
ઉપર તોળાયેલી
પત્નીની આંખમાં અડ્ડો જમાવી
બેઠેલો ભયનો ઓથાર!!!

મૃત્યુ એટલે હોવું!!!
