Several examples of old versus new; we will discuss one by one in a few 'bites'.
1. Joint/nuclear family:
Joint family:
Pros:
a. Common income, common expenditure, so balanced spending, and everybody gets the benefits.
b. Very close houses, common corridors, attention and help in needs available soon, e.g. health care and emotional affection.
c. Lot of information sharing, and safety, security, and discipline taken care and well maintained.
Cons:
a. Much less privacy.
b. Individual's progress diminishes, always you have to think of the others, and wait for permission, confirmation.
c. Lot of burden on a few who are proactive, and hard working.
***
Nuclear family:
Pros:
a. Individuals can do what they want.
b. Lot of privacy.
c. Take care of one's family as they desired, and within their income capacity, and can make reasonable progress.
Cons:
a. Get less emotional support from the relatives, more distances and times are involved.
b. Care and attention get divided, families might become singular and get less concerned even of their own parents.
c. People would become more selfish and self-centred, the children cannot even relate to their parents' close relatives, and they are not interested in keeping such connections.
