We used to ask our boss: why you don't take the names of big stalwarts in our field and praise them, at least to us?
He: If I keep doing that then, I would lose interest in doing my work, and feel that they have already done so much, then what is the point of my doing, anyway I wouldn't reach them.
We: But, we get some inspiration from that.
He: Yes, yet there is a risk of being complacent.
