It is my observation that in our country,
due to whatever reason, in the current times, our compassion virtue is tremendously depleted.
Our selfishness surfaces more often than not.
Where it is most needed, the humanitarian attention is in real shortage.
There are lots of incidences that have occurred in near past and occurring now, clearly depict that such virtues of attention, affection, care and kindness seem to have taken a back stage, when it is most required.
In a few places/cases it is visible, but it is not at all sufficient, given the volume of the problem that our cities, towns and villages are facing.
It is very unfortunate aspect of our present life, that this kind of lacuna has happened, and is continually occurring in our societies, and communities, and hence in our country that boasts of presence (in a larger sense) of Gandhi, and thousands of years of Hinduism.
The authorities, and service providers themselves are backing off, and many units and installations whose main purpose of their existence has been to take care of needy and suffering people themselves are
regressing backwoods, and blatantly and shamelessly refusing to take care of such citizens.
I do suppose, they follow one or the other religious path, and believe in their gods, and yet in their actions and deed these believers and practitioners do not display any trace of compassion.
Shouldn't we say that such personnel are hypocrites at the least?
If such situations continue to occur, where will common men, and their families go to seek basic needs that is their fundamental right?
The workers, labourers, daily wage earners all are hapless, to say the least. Those who are supposed to be care-takers of such and other citizens are themselves confused, because they were never prepared, for in their agenda, there was no Idea or thought of 'human compassion'. They're more interested in implementing their own personal agenda, come what may happen to the denizens, ironically these very citizens have chosen their leaders, what a bizzare condition!
And this all has happened, and is still happening in the country that had teachings of Gandhi, and the guidance and training of our highly intelligent philosophers, saints and seers, from several religions that are prevalent in our country of great spiritual heritage;
Where has all the learning and decency gone?
In majority cases, the rich are the least affected, and those who have and are in power, their machinery, and their affluence protect them, so these bigots are enjoying safe havens, mostly at the cost of the poor and deprived masses, who are in a way gullible.
Are the bigwigs born to exploit and rule the small ones?, who do not have the same rights?
We all need to ponder on this major problem that we the common men and women are facing. What will happen to our own children and grandchildren?
I am more peeved than ever, and really disgusted, and disappointed.
Is any hope there?
