In one Eastern philosophy, there is a mention of four states of consciousness, but it is better to understand this from the angle of mental perception/state of an individual (because it is only a mental development that prevents anybody to reach the higher state of consciousness):
1. Only mental state/observation as is, without any thinking or analysis.
2. The state with the use of intelligence, with an analytical ability.
3. The state with the use of judgemental ability, and rational decisions.
4. The state with the use of wisdom, here it is in complete unison with the universal principle.
