Ever heard the word "piggyback"? That's exactly what has been happening with the students' protest at Jantar Mantar.
To be clear, I am not in support of any political party here, nor am I against any party. This post isn't about politics at all.
The reason I used that word is that this protest was originally about genuine students—students who are genuinely concerned about their future and the future of upcoming generations within a corrupt system. Calling out a single person, group, or party does justice to no one. Truth be told, it would be hypocritical of me too, because none of us are black and white—we all have some gray in us. As someone once said, we are all selective sinners.
My voice might be too quiet to reach a large audience, and maybe it doesn't matter much anyway. I’m not someone who likes holding up a lantern to show people what is or isn't corrupt. In this digital era, I might even be blindsided by conflicting opinions from reels or news clips; everything feels foggy. But one thing I can clearly think and say on my own—far from political angles or bias—is that the genuine students who want a better future deserve the justice they are fighting for.
I am not saying it’s the fault of any single person or party; it's the system itself, along with the mindset we have built as a society. Issues only seem to become our problem when they directly affect us, or when it's convenient to speak up. Asking the government for answers about what has happened to our education system is a fundamental right. Doing so doesn't make the ruling party bad, nor does it automatically glorify the opposition or newly formed parties like the CJP.
As I said, I'm just a common millennial worried about the future we're creating for the generations to come. Otherwise, I'm just another coward sitting at home sharing reels and asking, "क्या होगा इस देश का?"
I guess all I'm trying to say is: don't let edited videos or paid promotions from either side blindside you. You don't even have to take a side—just ask yourself in your heart what kind of world we want to leave behind for the youth.
