Nest building:
Often I wonder why people keep building
Houses, even if they have basically one.
Some, who have daughters, buy lands for,
Them, then these daughters build houses.
They justify, by saying that they need,
To give the plots to their daughters,
So that they would be happier in,
Their married lives.
I wonder why the grooms would be,
Incompetent, and so selfish that,
Their inlaws have to make provision,
For these dwellings.
Some would have houses like: one in USA, One in their city of work, and one in their,
Village of their own birth.
These people will make houses for,
Their sons too, who are quite capable,
Of making houses for themselves.
I think it is an inherent urge in humans,
To provide shelter for themselves,
And their children, whether they are,
Capable or not.
A basic urge is for their own self,
A burrow, a den, or a nest to build,
For them so that they can mate,
With their partners, and have,
Offsprings, who need these shelters,
To protect them from the nature's
Onslaught of rains, cold, and heat.
Hence, besides food, air, and sun,
We all need a good shelter,
And people keep building such houses,
Even now more beyond their basic needs,
And keep justifying in one or the other way.
I think this basic urge is insatiable,
And the men, even in their eighties, and, Especially the retired ones,
Keep building still houses for themselves,
For living peacefully in their farm houses,
I wonder why they are not happy in their,
Houses in USA, and cities!
True happiness is in our own selves,
Residing here for ever, but we have
Not yet fully learnt how to unfold it,
And capture joy in abundance, that this,
Activity does not need any more,
Residences to be unfolded!
