Importance of Not Forgetting Our Past:
Time has changed. Presently most of people are not interested in history and even not interested to know about the warriors who laid down or sacrificed their lives in mediaeval period or even in recent past during freedom movement against British rule and Indo-China war or Indo-Pak wars. Everybody mostly believe that live in present.Forget rest of things.Enjoy the life.
History is not the past but a map of the past, drawn from a particular point of view, to be useful to the modern traveller.
It is useful to remember that history is to the nation as memory is to the individual. As a person deprived of memory becomes disorientated and lost, not knowing where they have been or where they are going , so a nation denied a conception of the past will be disabled in dealing with its present and its future.
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
– George Santayana, The Life of Reason, year 1905.
Studying history helps us understand how events in the past made things the way they are today. With lessons from the past, we not only learn about ourselves and how we came to be, but also develop the ability to avoid mistakes and create better paths for our societies.
Studying history helps us understand and grapple with complex questions and dilemmas by examining how the past has shaped and continues to shape, global, national, and local relationships between societies and people.
