Unfulfilled Desire
The one we wished for,
We could never make our own.
We were given a lifetime,
Yet could never call them our own.
You could have accepted us just once,
Even if you had to leave us apart.
How we fell in love with you,
We cannot explain.
What you meant to say,
We cannot claim to understand.
What was there in your heart?
We could never understand.
You drifted away from us,
As if we had never been close to you.
You never really said no,
Yet you never said yes.
How were we supposed to understand you?
That, too, we could never guess.
