Due to lot of progress in IT (information technology) lot of normal things that were very essential are now losing their importance and usage (refined here from popular open access data):
1. Post office letters:
Now SMSs, and WA messages do the job. Even money orders are not needed, we can send Amazon e-gift cards. Job-applications are done online. Tax returns are done by e-filing. Also, people use courier services for speed and security of their packages. Greetings cards are now e-greetings. I use postal service only once or twice a year.
2. The Cheque:
Due to internet based and Paytm (and the like) facilities, the cheque books are idling. Very rarely, I intentionally send a cheque to a person who does not know how to use other facilities.
3. The Newspaper:
I have stopped it a decade ago. I sometimes browse on my smart phone, and mostly I avoid watching news. My wife watches regularly for half an hour on TV, and I get important information from her. Watching too much of news creates lot of headache because of confusion they create. Even the interviews on TV are boring.
4. The Book:
Though these will go away from print in a few years, I still like to read from a hard copy, though I have a few on my Kindle device. Reading a print copy will save your eye-sight. Those who use too much of mobiles, tablets and Kindle, their long/far-sight would be very poor in a long run. Reading from a hardcopy is more convenient than on a device, but in a decade or more the print copy reading would reduce drastically.
5. The Land Line Telephone:
I have already disconnected the service.
6. Music:
The music per se will not disappear, but, means of its usage would drastically change, in fact they are already changed. All cassette/CD- players are gone. We had to discard such good units because they became outdated; our radio is also lying idle.
7. Television Revenues:
We are watching only selected channels; more watching on smart phones.
8. The "Things" That You Own:
Due to increased dependency on the net, lot of our own repository (files books/data) will not be with us, it will be in 'cloud'.
9. Joined Handwriting (Cursive Writing):
Due to increased use of keyboards, this is nearly gone.
10. Privacy
Due to GPS, and serveillance cameras, this is drastically reduced.

'Excellence (in many places) is punished'.
'Mediocrity (in most cases) is rewarded'.
