Interestingly in one major Eastern philosophical thought there is a beautiful concept:
Adwaitya and Non-Adwaitya.
That is to mean: Non-duality and duality.
The duality means there is atman and paramatma; here human and god are two different entities. A human being has atman (soul), and the god is paramatma (supreme soul).
And the singleton concept means there is only one thing: supreme reality, absolute unitary being, sanatana dharma, or single universal principle. Here, the atman is a part and parcel of the paramatma, i.e. it is a subset of the super set.
This entire philosophy educates us how to live our lives to merge ourselves with the god, or how to realise that we are the same as the supreme reality.
It would take several decades of mental and intellectual practice for us to go anywhere near to any one of the goals, and get even the glimpses of the fulfillment of self-realization!
