This Gujarati Rhyme describes the moral of the story of The Liar Shepherd and Tiger, in which a mischievous shepherd boy used to shout for help, pretending that a tiger had attacked and the villagers used to run to help him. He would then laugh and say that he was merely joking. The villagers stopped believing him. One day, when in fact, a tiger attacks, his calls for help remain unanswered ....
The first four lines of the song say that falsehood always harms, even when it is enacted as a game or joke.
The second paragraph of four lines says, one who lies, even as a joke, gets trapped. Truth gets revealed and the liar has to repent.
The last paragraphs says that one who acts thoughtlessly, later has to repent and such works may even cost one's life.
I have learned this song from my mother. I never got to learn Gujarati as a subject in school or college. I am self-taught and home-taught as far as Gujarati is concerned 🙂 🙂 It has been a wonderful experience all through !!
