The Subconscious Mind
Imagine that you are staying in a house with two rooms. You are happy in the house. Then someone tells you that your house is bigger than the two rooms that you occupy. You wonder if that person is mad. You cannot see anything more than the two rooms that you have occupied. You dismiss the thought. But the person tells you again, and again and again that your house is bigger. You look once but find nothing more than your two rooms.
You forget the incident but the thought persists in your mind. One day while looking for something you stumble upon a third room!! You are perplexed!! “I didn’t know about this room.” You tell yourself. You explore the room and find a fourth room, and another and another and another till you find that your house is indeed bigger than you could ever imagine. In fact, it is way bigger than anybody’s wildest imagination!!
At first the rooms seem to be empty. Then you start finding hidden cellars and trap doors. There are nuggets hidden in these places. Something tells you there is more to it. It is a tedious task, sometimes boring and mostly frustrating but you keep at it and you start finding bigger treasures and more rooms. The rooms are almost endless and so are the treasures. You discover that everything you ever needed is in those rooms.
“Should I tell anyone else?” you wonder. “Who is going to believe me? They might call me mad.” Finally, after a long time you decide to tell your best friend. You meet him and he seems to be excited.
“I want to tell you something amazing.” You start.
“So do I.” says your friend.
“OK, you go first.” You say.
Your friend starts off, “You know my house? I thought that it was only two rooms big. A few weeks back a strange person told me that my house is bigger than those two rooms. I dismissed the person off hand. But then when I was looking for………………..”
You listen in stunned silence.
(The two rooms that you have been occupying are your conscious mind. The rest is the subconscious mind.)
