MISERY
Bad things happen to us. A betrayal, an accident or a tragedy can befall anyone. And days, months and years after it happens, it continues to disturb us.
But what really disturbs us? Is it the incident? Is it the memory of the incident? Or is it the pain it caused us?
Maybe all of these do disturb us. But more than it all, what disturbs us is our struggle to make sense of it. We want a closure, a reason and an explanation as to why it happened. We look for a logical reason, something that fits into our world view. Loose ends are not acceptable. There must be a closure. It is this very struggle that disturbs us the most.
If we accept the fact that a closure, an explanation or an answer is not always available, life would be much simpler. Even if it is, it will not necessarily fit into our world view. This is just the way it is, like it or not.
Accept this and see how simple life becomes.
