I thought to analyse the word: dahyi in Gujarati.
Often this word is used for good girl and good boy (dahyo).
There is no equivalent word in English, the wise is nearest one but it is more than necessary.
So, in my opinion the word could be meant to include a person who has atleast three virtues:
1. is obedient,
2. has some understanding, and
3. has some basic manner.
So, a person with these three virtues or qualities can be addressed as:
Dahyi dikari or dahyo chhokaro.
