Being together is not about selectively choosing one’s personality traits but about accepting a person completely.
People who love you and want to be with you will always accept you for who you are. It was anyway your real self what connected you with them in the first place. Some people try to suppress a person’s behaviour, attitude or personality to turn them into a person best suited for their own needs. Living under someone’s control is like giving up yourself. If we have to pretend to be with someone, that relationship has no value. Any relationship based on false pretence can never last.
