DAY 13/30 — THE PRIVATE MIND OF A SUCCESSFUL PERSON
The more successful you become, the more expensive the word NO starts to feel.
Not financially.
Emotionally.
A relative needs money.
A friend wants a favour.
An employee needs an exception.
Someone asks you to recommend them for a job.
Another person expects you to attend an event.
And everyone has the same reason.
It will only take five minutes.
You can easily afford it.
You're in a position to help.
For you, it's a small thing.
But nobody sees the twenty other small things you've already said YES to.
So you agree.
Even when you're tired.
Even when you don't have the time.
Even when something inside you wants to say NO.
Because now you're not only protecting your relationships.
You're protecting the image people have of you.
The generous one.
The dependable one.
The person who never refuses.
And slowly, something changes.
You begin feeling irritated with people you genuinely care about.
You avoid certain phone calls.
You feel guilty when you choose yourself.
Sometimes you even start wondering whether people would still value you if you stopped being useful to them.
But here's something worth reflecting on.
Being capable of helping someone doesn't automatically make you responsible for solving their problem.
And saying NO to a request doesn't always mean saying NO to a relationship.
Sometimes it simply means:
I care about you, but I have limits too.
Perhaps the real question isn't:
Why do people expect so much from me?
Perhaps it's:
Why have I started believing that disappointing someone makes me a bad person?
Because success should give you more freedom to make choices.
Not make you feel guilty for having boundaries.
At Tanoshii Cosmos, I offer private counselling conversations to explore emotional pressure, relationship expectations and difficulty setting boundaries.
Tarot Guidance can also be used as a reflective tool when you're questioning your priorities.
Reiki can be explored as a complementary relaxation practice when constant responsibilities leave you feeling drained.
Sometimes the first step isn't changing everyone around you.
It's understanding why saying one simple word feels so difficult.
If you're carrying a situation you'd rather not discuss publicly, you can reach out privately.
