Rise is an upward movement or an increase in number, size, amount or degree
It can also be upward movement.
It's process of becoming famous, powerful or popular like our film stars or politicians or leaders in any organisation
Current example is
Italy has reported biggest rise in count for positive tested Corona people.
Maya Angelou has beautifully written in her most famous poem,
Just like moons and the Suns,
with the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high
still I will rise
You may shoot me with your words
you may cut me with your eyes
you may hurt me with your hatefulness
but still I rise, like air, I will rise
With your bitter twisted lies,
you may trod me in the very dirt
but still , like dust, I will rise
