Align has couple of meaning,
to arrange the things or place the things in order or place the things in line. for eg, align all desk in class room.
another meaning is to give a support other team members. for eg. in corporate world is align on certain topics or align on certain issues. this is to avoid confusion in future.
In domestic scenario, husband and wife are aligned on many issues to tackle jointly. It is an understanding and conveying to have consensus on the issue. Thought process to be aligned, means whatever I am thinking , I m conveying to my spouse and align on the issue.
In sports, team players gets aligned on instructions from captain on strategies
Practically, either i have to get aligned with someones ideas/ strategies to work smoothly or I have to get others to get aligned with me to work smoothly.
When people are not aligned, there may be indifferences. Live example, is current politics. If some leader is not aligned with others in same party or party guidelines, in their thought process, he or she has to face issues with media, party etc.
Everyone like friends, lovers, parents, office staff are aligning with the thought process of their counterparts.
