Rajput lancers from Jodhpur in Haifa 1918 participated in Haifa war under leadership of Dalpatsinh Rathod as a part of British army fighting against Ottoman Empire during first world war. Lancer meaning a soldier of a cavalry regiment armed with lances. Rajput soldiers were armed with swords and lances where as Ottoman army soldiers were armed with guns.Rajputs were victorious in Haifa war.
Haifa was captured from the Ottomans in September 1918 by Indian Rajput horsemen of the British Army equipped with spears and swords who overran Ottoman positions. On 22 September, British troops were heading to Nazareth when a reconnaissance report was received indicating that the Turks were leaving Haifa. The British made preparations to enter the city and came under fire in the Balad al-Sheikh district (today Nesher). After the British regrouped, an elite unit of Indian Rajput horsemen were sent to attack the Turkish positions on the flanks and overrun their artillery guns on Mount Carmel.
