The most common causes of cancer death in 2020 were:
lung (1.80 million deaths).
Worldwide:
breast (2.26 million cases);
lung (2.21 million cases);
colon and rectum (1.93 million cases);
prostate (1.41 million cases);
skin (non-melanoma) (1.20 million cases); and.
stomach (1.09 million cases).

Kerala has highest cancer rate:
During the measured time period, crude incidence rate of cancer: 135/one lac population.
Cancers most common in Indian males: Lung and mouth; esophagus, stomach, and nasopharynx.

The main cause of cancer in India: Tobacco, 48.7 % of cancers among males and 16.5 % among females; number of cancers in 2025 would be 4,27,273 (27.2 % of India's total projected cancer cases).
Symptoms of lung cancer in men: a persistent cough, coughing up blood, hoarseness, and shortness of breath.
Vegetarians have fewer cancers; but higher risk of Colorectal Cancer (of colon and rectum) than among the meat eaters.
The age at which cancer occurs in India: 1 in 10 men and 1 in 8 women can develop cancer of any form, after the age of 35 years. The probability of developing tobacco related cancers from 35 to 70+ years was found to be 4.75% and 2.16% in males and females respectively.
The small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is generally accepted to grow the quickest; However, of new lung cancer diagnoses, only about 15% are SCLC.

Lung cancer, the leading causes of cancer death in 2020: 23% of all cancer deaths.
Other common causes of cancer death were cancers of the colon and rectum, colorectal cancer (9%), pancreas (8%), female breast (7%), prostate (5%), and liver and intrahepatic bile duct (5%).
Prevalence of cancer in Gujarat:The National Cancer Registry Programme report for 2021 indicated that 58% of head and neck cancers, 50% of stomach cancers in men, 54% of breast cancers and 60% of cervical cancers had already spread outside the primary tissue (loco-regional) when the patient came for the first time for diagnosis. The number of people diagnosed with common cancer in Gujarat jumped from 3,939 in 2017 to 72,169 in 2018, recording 68,230 new cases, whereas the number of those visiting clinics increased by only 24%.
A study by The Lancet: breast, cervical and stomach cancers are responsible for the majority of cancer deaths among women in India, while lung, oral and stomach cancers are the leading causes of cancer death in Indian men.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer estimated a death toll of 7,84,821 people from cancer in India in 2018 alone, amounting to 8% of global cancer deaths and 6% of deaths from all causes in India.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men. Most prostate cancers are found in men over the age of 65.27
