Unforgettable Voyage - Ranjan Desai - 23

                        Chapter 22

Suhani was having difficulty getting married.

Yet, God had gifted her with Aniket. He was poor, but he loved Suhani immensely.

When she became pregnant, he was away in Germany on company business. Suhani had nowhere else to go. And how my mother-in-law didn't want to et him loose.

Knowing Suhani's situation, no one would be willing to marry her.  Therefore, my mother-in-law was determined to marry Suhani off to Aniket, keeping him in the dark. I didn't agree with this.  Marrying him while keeping him in the dark could create many problems.

Someone had informed Aniket's mother about Suhani's pregnancy. That door was now closed for her .  In what situation would Aniket be willing to accept Suhani?

Before the wedding, Aniket learned the truth. And we were all saved from a big lie.

Aniket showed his generosity, but the joy of having children was not in his destiny. Because Suhani was destined to have only one child, which she had aborted to protect her honor.

His mother longed for an heir.

People suggested that they arrange a second marriage for their son. But Aniket was not ready for that.  In this situation, his mother left no stone unturned in tormenting Suhani. And Suhani met a tragic end.

After that, her suicide he even stopped working, and had relapsed into her alcohol addiction.

My other sister-in-law, Namita, had કેપચડ Aniket 's heart. When he came to see Suhani, he liked Namita. But she was younger, and her two older sisters were still unmarried. In this situation, he felt helpless and chose Suhani.

Namita was also two steps ahead of her older sister, Suhani. Namita was also engaged. Her in-laws had invited us to their house in Pardi. At that time, Aniket and Suhani were also with us.

Both Suhani and Namita had talked about sleeping with their fiancés before marriage, and Namita's engagement was broken off.

Namit  was involved with two boys, Babu and Sanjay.Sanjay was the better of the two. I had even recommended him to my mother-in-law for Namita. But my mother-in-law didn't think it necessary to pay attention to her daughter's adequate choice.

And she ran away with Babu.

He took her jewelry and money and sold Namita to a brothel.

Much later, I unexpectedly met Namita on the overhead bridge at Charni Road station. I was going down the stairs when someone's voice struck my ears.  I turned around and was astonished:

          Namita was asking passersby,

" You want a to bed with me, sir?"

That one question revealed the whole story.

She had turned a professional prostitute.

Having affairs with two men simultaneously was the consequence of her actions.

She had once slept next to me.

          I couldn't forget that.

All these signs made me realize she was the sister of a woman who was involved in that profession.

And that's exactly what happened in the end. Namita was drawn into that world:

She was married into a wealthy family in Valsad. They didn't demand any dowry. Babu knew the boy. They had studied in the same school. He knew the boy's entire history. The boy was incapable of providing physical intimacy.  Even knowing this, he accepted the marriage for his own benefit.

He was gay. He had a physical relationship with his brother-in-law, whose sister was deprived of physical intimacy by him. When she found out the truth, she committed suicide. That's when the parents learned the truth. They kicked their son out of the house.

Babu regularly went to meet him. There was some illicit relationship between the two. Namita's in-laws knew about it.  He needed an heir. That's why he turned a blind eye. And a boy was born from her womb, whom he accepted as his heir.

He had transferred all his property to Namita's name.

And then he ran away, abandoning the child.

Babu was only interested in Namita's body. But now he had no affection left for her. He wanted a new girl every day.

       He himself had openly declared:

"I can make Namita pregnant whenever I want."

        And he had proven it.

After getting all his money transferred to his name, he sold Namita and received a hefty sum.

Babu , was still around. But he was of no use.

She was regretting it in her heart. If she had married Sanjay, she wouldn't have had to see such days. His family was from a wealthy and respectable background. His three brothers had married girls who lived in the same building.

Sanjay had climbed the drainpipe to reach the kitchen balcony. He had even given Namita a love letter. But it didn't change her thinking, and her mindset dragged her to hell.
