Unforgettable Voyage - Ranjan Desai - 9

                        Chapter - 9

I had become quite unwell. I was completely broken. That's when Ananya came to me. I hugged her and pleaded:

"Now you are  my sister in real  sense of terms. Just go to Garima and bring her me once."

But it wasn't possible. In this situation, Anurag, along with two friends from his village, got her address from the college clerk and went to her house with his friends.

They explained the entire situation to Garima in details.

She spoke to me on the phone.

I was  out of mind finding her talking with me on the phone started some thing indecent. .

On Hearing this, she got annoyed. She stopped me and warned.

"If you talk like this, I won't come..."

I apologized  her sincerely and she promised to meet me at two o'clock the next day.

                        00000000000

The next day, exactly at two o'clock, she entered the courtyard of my building with her friend and Anurag.

At that moment, a song playing on All India Radio welcomed her.

O spring, shower flowers, my beloved has arrived!O winds, sing melodies, my beloved has arrived!

Through this song, even God himself welcomed her as my beloved.

Was this a miracle or just a coincidence?

        He had given me hope.

That we would definitely get married.

This had raised my hopes to the

highest heavens.

I felt that God also wanted this.

I respectfully welcomed and greeted her.

"Come in! I'm perfectly fine. My family has unnecessarily worried themselves sick about me."

She didn't comment on what I said. She didn't express any reaction either. I directly made a request to her:

"Let's go inside and receive God's blessings."

Ananya was present at that time. She stopped me and said:

" Garima wants to say something."

" Yes, tell me! What do you want to say?"

       "I'm engaged!"

        Then Ananya asked me:

"Now Garima is your sister, isn't she?"

"There's no room for doubt about that."

I immediately went inside. I bowed my head before the image of God, asked for forgiveness, and said:

         "Garima is my sister!"

Saying this, I came outside. And in everyone's presence, I placed my hand on Garima's head and took an oath:

"From today, you are my sister. I will never look at you in any other way. If that ever happens, that day will be the last day of my life."

        "I'm leaving."

Saying this, she left. After that, I was in a terrible state. I stomped my foot on the door and started crying.  Garima's ears had heard my cries. Her compassion had momentarily stopped her in her tracks. At that moment, her friend had taken her hand and led her out of the building.

My condition had worsened considerably. At that time, my father took me to a psychiatrist. After examining me, the doctor told my father:

"Your son is very disturbed. He needs mental treatment; he will have to be admitted to the hospital."

And I was immediately admitted to the hospital.

I was subjected to the most rigorous treatment.

I was even given electroshock therapy. But there was no improvement in my condition for 15 days.  I was then advised to go to a hill station.

And my parents, taking out a loan, took me to Mahabaleshwar.

We arrived there, and after two days, a newly married couple arrived. I was shocked to see them. The very thing I wanted to avoid had appeared right in front of me.

Garima had come to Mahabaleshwar with her husband.

She had met with an accident and one of her foot was amputated making her lame.

In that situation, she was ready to break off the marriage.

But Gaurav had set a new example by marrying her.

In this situation, Garima did not lose heart. She established an NGO and gave many people a purpose in life. She helped them and enabled them to stand on their own feet.  As soon as I received the news, I went to the NGO to meet her.  Seeing her condition, my eyes welled up with tears.

      Seeing this, she reassured me.

I was deeply indebted to her.

She could have simply told me about her engagement over the phone. Yet, she took lot of pain and   to my house in the scorching afternoon sun to tell me the truth. It was a gesture of great kindness, a true example of her noble character. I had committed a great sin by even considering marrying a engaged girl. That's why I couldn't forgive myself.

I had sworn an oath to make her my sister, and God had given us the opportunity to truly become brother and sister.

I was extremely sensitive, and therefore, I felt guilty for Garima's situation.

Then Garima explained it to me.

"Someone's wrong thinking cannot cause any trouble in another person's life."

Garima taught me a very important lesson.

Gaurav taught karate. He had achieved great things at a young age. He had won so many awards and prizes. In his company, Garima completely forgot about her disability.

No matter how weak or disabled a person may be, they should never let that thought take root in their mind. Our thoughts shape our lives.  Whatever happens, whatever difficulties or illnesses you face, it is absolutely essential to stay away from such negative thoughts...

'Never give up in your mind.'

         'Those who try never fail.'

Despite her disability, Garima was moving forward, guided by a positive attitude. This was the greatest example. Forgetting her own suffering, she had improved the lives of so many people.
