Unforgettable Voyage - Ranjan Desai - 12

                          Chapter 12

What a strange situation God had created! The night after the wedding, my sister Lalita, forgetting everything, called me to her house to make amends.

Aarti and another sister had observed a fast.

My wedding was scheduled for the next day. Yet, I went to their house when they called.

My brother was getting married, and we hadn't let Bhavika know anything about it. We were afraid she might get too excited and spoil everything by blabbing about it.

We were together at the Jagrata (all-night religious gathering). We stayed awake all night. Antakshari (a singing game), jokes, and chess were played in turns.

We had to be ready and at the hall by nine in the morning.

Bhavika asked many questions, but we deflected them.

We had a lot of fun that night. It was as if it was the prelude to our wedding.

As soon as the Jagrata ended at seven o'clock, I immediately came home.

A strange coincidence happened with my father and me. His in-laws' house was next door, and in a few moments, it was going to be my in-laws' house too.

After entering the hall, Bhavika herself became aware of the truth.

Everyone invited to the wedding had arrived.

        We were all very happy.

The wedding was completed in due course of time without any obstacles.  After that, my father invited Lalita Pawar to bless the newly wedded couple.

"Sambhav and Aarti are  married. If you want, you can come and give your blessings."

He also gave them the address.

And within half an hour, Lalita Pawar, her sister-in-law Pushpa bahen along with  the shop's servant rushed to the hall.

As soon as my mother-in-law arrived, true to her nature,  started scolding my father shamelessly.

"May dust fall on your head! You forcibly married your crazy son to my daughter. Aren't you ashamed?"

Up to this point, everything was fine. It was natural for a mother to say something like that, but here, the house servant, acting like the boss, came to confront me. I couldn't tolerate this. I directly asked him:

"Who do you think you are? I don't even know you. Step aside. I don't need to answer you."

       Then the servant threatened me.

       "I will kill you!!"

At that time, my maternal uncle was present, who was a lawyer by profession. He boosted my morale and said...  "Don't worry. He gave this threat in front of everyone. If anyone else from outside touches you, I will send him behind bars."

Lalita Pawar's grumbling didn't stop even afterward. I called her sister-in-law aside and said to her,

"Your niece is right here in front of you. You may ask her. Was she forced into anything? If she says yes, then you take her away. We will forget about this marriage right here."

She was different from her sister-in-law. She understood everything. She didn't say anything to us, and the matter ended there.

Lalita Pawar was against the marriage. In that situation, staying close to her was not advisable. She was another format of Lalita Pawar we shifted to Geeta's cousin's empty flat for a few days.

And everything was fine within two days.

Lalita Pawar, along with her brother-in-law and other sisters-in-law, arrived at our house with a proposal for a reception ceremony.

And the ceremony was organised 3 days later.

At that time, Lalita Pawar's behavior was a bit strange. Normally, on such occasions, a mother-in-law feeds ice cream to her son-in-law. But here, the opposite was the scenario. My mother-in-law fed Anish ice cream instead of me.

Geeta Bahen also was unhappy to see this scenario. She loved her daughter-in-law very much.  She took care of us.  Even a mother could not bear this.

She had committed the shameful act of placing obstacles in the path of her daughter. She gave me some unhelpful advice:

"You have a stepmother at home. What would you do if you were thrown out of house tomorrow?"

I didn't like her saying this at all;  I immediately stopped them.

"I have married  your daughter. Now it is my responsibility; there is no need for you to speak or interfere in our life. "

She was speechless. She left no stone unturned to provoke her daughter.

I had also written an article portraying her as the enemy of the society, which was published in the newspaper. She became very angry after reading that.

She  was a very influential illusion.  She was in a love affair with a neighbor boy.  He had tarnished the brother-sister relationship by his illicit connection. Her second daughter, Suhani, was the result of his illicit relationship.

Instead of looking at herself in the light, she enjoyed finding faults in others She  left no stone unturned to defame her  daughter.  She had approached my father and spoken to him about Suhani's evil character which was her mirror. My father was stunned to hear this.

She was responsible for what she said.  Suhani had just followed her path blindly.

After coming to live with next to us, she immediately started dating with Anish.  What was that?  Who was his daughter?  She was in the habit of defaming other's   ofsprings

Aarti herself had witness her mother's illicit relations with her own eyes. She told me.  Now what should I say, who should I tell?

        This question  was always disturbing.

Aarti gave me the good news in the second month after marriage, and my joy knew no bound.  be happy.

At that time, I was giving LLB.exam
