In my personal opinion, in most cases and almost all the countries, most of the educationists and sociologists would not be opposing the education of women, but some political leaders, and and a few (orthodox) religionic-leaders would be opposing, because they are afraid that these educated women would overpower them, and then these power-hungry political leaders would lose their control over the citizens, and these religionic leaders would lose their fame with the educated and powerful women; the fear is mainly due to the fact that these so called self-proclaimed saviours of humanity and the leaders have no confidence in themselves; they themselves are not so much educated, and they have their own selfish agenda to be realised for their own benefits, and sustenance for their life times; this they can do only if they are in power, and seats of high esteem; thus in fact what happens to the nation or the large masses, they are really not so much bothered; this happens usually in non-democratic, and underdeveloped/just developing countries.
