The Universal consciousness is represented by the Lord Krishna, who in fact was a historical personality, that is very well exemplified in the Indian epic Mahabharata, a play of not only historical fame, but of a monumental dimensions; and gradually as the era advanced, he got the firm status of a God with some special virtues, and became very lovable character to mothers, children, young lovers, as well as elderly people, even as a personal god for thousands of devotees; and deriving from his younghood playfulness, that was considered as harmless, emerged a concept of free living, enjoying the worldly aspects, and yet contemplating the highest goal to reach or merge into the supreme consciousness; and this is done through living a carefree life (not careless, or childish, immature life);
meaning a life lived without worries and the worldly desires.

According to me celebrating his birthday is synonymous with reminding to ourselves of our journey to Godhood of love, the highest principle of Universal kindness.
