Turiyu (ridge gourd) is normally good, but if it is bitter we discard it, (perhaps, it is named so, because in most cases it would be bitter), but the karela, the bitter gourd is inherently bitter but, most people eat its curry made with onion and jaggery.
Here, it is the question of an acquired taste. Like most people can eat menthi pak, but some cannot, because menthia seeds are inherently bitter.
Here, importance is of not the taste, but of the original, fundamental nature, if anything is out of that domain, it gets thrown away.
If the life (of an individual) is also like that, then an individual gets thrown away.
So, it is better to remain in our own good nature.
