The Language of Silence - Part 10

This is Part 10 of the story.
If you truly want to understand what’s happening, please read from Part 1 to Part 9 first. Only then will the emotions, choices, and connections in this chapter make complete sense.

---

The college had grown quiet.
Neil was no longer there.
And Avya — she was no longer just “the silent girl.”

Her silence had transformed into strength.
Her eyes now carried confidence, not hesitation.
Her steps were firm, no longer held back by fear.

People still looked at her — but differently now.
Not with curiosity or pity, but with a quiet respect.

But Arjun knew something important —
Saving someone from breaking down… and confessing your love to them — are not the same.
One requires courage. The other, complete vulnerability.

---

That evening — when Arjun made a choice

The last class of the day had ended.
Students were heading out, talking and laughing as usual.

Avya was quietly gathering her books when Arjun approached her.

> “Can you spare a little time this evening?” he asked softly.

Avya looked up. A small smile formed on her lips.

> “Why?” she asked, with a playful curiosity in her eyes.

> “Because today, I don’t want an answer from your silence...
I want one from your eyes.”

She didn’t say anything. She just nodded.

And that nod carried more weight than a thousand words.

---

An old café, a new moment

Later that evening, they met at an old coffee house near campus —
a place where seniors used to sit and talk for hours, where many love stories had once begun.

Arjun was already there, seated at a corner table.
His hands were cold, but his heart was racing.
He looked up the moment Avya walked in.

She wore a simple grey dress, her hair tied loosely.
There was no extra makeup — just the soft line of kohl in her eyes.
And yet, to Arjun, she had never looked more beautiful.

> “Sit,” he said gently.
“I have something to say. I might sound nervous... but please listen.”

---

Arjun's confession

> “Avya...
When I first saw you,
you weren’t just a quiet girl.
You were a mystery. A question I couldn't ignore.”

> “And for the longest time, I thought I needed to find your answer.
But now I know...
I don’t want to just be your answer —
I want to be a part of your story.”

> “I’m not great with words. I don’t know how people usually say these things.
But when you smile, it feels like the world slows down.
And when you go silent... it feels like my world does too.”

> “I know your past hasn’t been easy.
But I promise,
I want to be part of your future —
one filled with warmth, peace, and laughter.”

> “Will you be my voice,
the way I became your silence?”

---

Avya didn’t say anything right away.

But her eyes had turned misty.
Her fingers slowly reached out and held Arjun’s hand.

And then, for the first time, she spoke without fear.

> “Yes, Arjun…
Now I want to speak.
And the first thing I want to say is —
I love you too.”

---

That night...

The coffee went cold.
The world outside kept moving.
But inside that small café, two hearts finally spoke their truths.

Not through noise, but through calm.
Not through grand gestures, but through quiet, honest words.

---

But just when things felt perfect…

As Arjun dropped Avya home,
his phone buzzed with a new message.

> “Arjun, I need to meet you.
It’s a matter of life and death.”
– Neil
