The crowd erupted in shock at Ishita's words and looked at Rohan as if he were a sinner. The camera panned towards the man instantly and the world saw how furious he had become, a complete contradiction to the gentlemanly face he usually donned in public.
"Ishita, there's a misunderstanding here. Let's sort this matter out in private," Mahesh said, trying to appease the situation. It was getting out of hand, and if it spiraled out of control, they'd be done.
"Mr. Khanna, I am yet to finish speaking." Ishita gave him a look that said she would tear their facades and show their true faces to the world tonight. Her eyes were blazing with fury, one which no one had ever seen on her, not even Veer.
Yet Veer wasn't surprised. After all, she was his sister, and it was a given that she was furious after how the Khanna family had tricked them and the world.
Ishita's eyes returned to the camera. "And this isn't the first time, Rohan has molested a woman. Divya is one of his victims, there are a lot more."
Glancing at the man who was glaring at her maliciously as if he'd rip her apart if she continued, Ishita smiled sardonically. If not for her brother, Aryan, and the guards holding him back, the man would have lunged at her for sure.
"It's just that Divya was bold enough to reveal the injustice she has suffered, while the others were forced to keep their mouths shut. Isn't it, Mr. Khanna?"
Veer wasn't a fool and so weren't the others. Everybody understood what Ishita was insinuating.
Rohan and his family had forced the victims to remain silent, either by threatening them or by buying their silence. None of the people in the Khanna family was innocent.
"Ishita, you are getting out of hand here. You're accusing my son without any evidence. I'm going to sue you." Rohan's mother, Navina understood that their alliance with the Rathores was over. Since they were bound to become enemies tonight, she didn't hold back from turning the tables on them.
"Sue her? Are you sure, Mrs. Khanna?" Veer's intimidating voice resounded in the hall, his calculating eyes glowering at her. The sharpness in them stunned everyone and Navina gulped in fright.
"I dare you. Go ahead and sue her."
Navina didn't dare. She didn't have the courage to touch Ishita, let alone Veer. The man was a monster. He would destroy not just her, but her entire family until they couldn't even beg on the streets.
"But..." Navina held her breath for a moment when she met Veer's challenging gaze. She was scared, petrified to the bone. Yet, she couldn't remain mum. Her son's life was at stake. "What evidence does she have to say that my son molested someone?"
"You want evidence?" Ishita scoffed as she pulled out her phone and showed everyone, especially her brother, the video she had obtained.
Everyone saw Rohan and his friends pull a woman to a room. The video seemed to be from a CCTV camera on one of the hotel's floors.
The woman's face was pixelated. But Rohan and his friends were visible clearly. The video didn't have any audio. Yet, it was evident what was happening as they touched the woman inappropriately while she fought to escape from them.
"What do you have to say, Mrs. Khanna?" Ishita looked at the older woman coldly. "Don't say now that the truth isn't like what the video shows. Everyone can see how the woman is being manhandled by Rohan and his friends."
"This...This...This..." Out of everyone, Mahesh was shocked the most and he gaped at the phone, unable to speak a word coherently.
"Mr. Khanna, did you think you could hide the truth by bribing the hotel staff?" Ishita sneered, turning to the man who looked as if he was about to faint. "You bribed them to erase the truth and I bribed them more to tell me the truth."
Ishita turned to face the camera again and played the video again. "You can check for the authenticity of this video. I had to leave because I wanted to verify the truth. The woman, Divya, is currently fighting her death. After what Rohan and his friends did to her, she tried to commit suicide."
"Ishita, I'm going to kill you," Rohan shouted and pushed Aryan who was blocking him with all his might. His eyes were red in anger and he looked like an untamed beast.
Ishita's heart skipped a beat when she saw the man bolting towards her in all fury. However, before Rohan could reach her, he was kicked in the shin and he screamed in agony as he dropped to his knees.
Veer walked around him and stood before him, looking down at him frigidly. His gaze promised death. He was already incensed by the truth and even more so after the stunt Rohan had pulled.
"How dare you!" he seethed as he pulled Rohan's hair. "Who do you think you are to even think about hurting my sister? My sister, Veer Rathore's sister?"
"Veer..." Mahesh's breath was stuck in his chest when he met Veer's warning gaze.
"Mr. Rathore, there's a confusion here. It's all a misunderstanding. Rohan would never...."
"Mr. Khanna," Ishita interrupted him, forcing him to shut up. " I have the video of you bribing the hotel staff. Do you want me to show it to the world as well?"
Now, Mahesh had no words of retort and he kept quiet. Everything was over. They were over. They were utterly destroyed.
"Mr. Rohan Khanna." The police entered right at that moment, making the situation more exciting.
"You're under arrest." The man leading the police troop showed them the arrest warrant and handcuffed Rohan and all his friends immediately before they even had the chance to slip away.
"Inspector, there's a ..."
"And Mr. Mahesh Khanna, you'll have to accompany us to the police station. You're suspected of tampering with evidence."
"What? No!" Mahesh shouted. But no one listened to him.
Instead, the police did what they were there for and arrested everyone involved in the crime.
The crowd was in an uproar and they couldn't stop whispering among themselves. The Khanna family was destroyed for sure. After tonight, their business was bound to hit rock bottom and maybe even reach... bankruptcy. Who would work with them after what they did?
Veer rubbed his forehead as he looked at the crowd around with his lips pursed. "I thank everyone for coming here today."
Everyone understood that it was time for them to leave. But Veer's next words stopped them.
"The engagement might be over, but the dinner is still served. Please stay and eat before you leave."
