Taming The Tycoon - 3. Fired

Veer's eyes flashed with a sinister glint and he eyed Saanvi coldly.

"I'll be there soon." He ended the call and gave Saanvi a look. "Follow me."

"What? Where are you taking me?" Saanvi protested. But all it took was Veer's one look for her to become meek like a lamb and follow him obediently.

'Oh my God! That was so scary. For a moment I thought Yamraj (God of Death) was standing before me.' Saanvi's mind wandered and she imagined Veer with a mustache as big as Yamraj's. She burst out giggling, only to stop when Veer glanced at her again.

Veer and Saanvi entered the surveillance room and the guard in charge greeted them with a nod.

"Show them what you showed me," Aryan instructed and the guard started playing the video.

Saanvi watched the computer screen and her eyes almost popped out in shock when she saw Ishita leave the bridal room stealthily, looking around her to ensure no one was nearby. She was leaving her room willingly, no one was forcing her.

The scene switched and Ishita met a woman in one of the corridors. Dressed in a navy blue shirt tucked in her trousers, the woman looked like she belonged to their event management group. The only difference was that the woman was wearing a mask. Other than her eyes, her face was completely covered.

"What do you have to say now?" Veer folded his hands and gave her an intimidating look.

"Do you think that woman is me?" Saanvi pointed her finger at the woman on the screen before pointing at herself.

Veer didn't react.

"You're unbelievable. Why would I do something like that? I'm not insane."

"Enough," Veer shouted, his tone laced with fury and Saanvi flinched in fright.

"Where is my sister?" He gnashed his teeth and gave her a look that said if she didn't start speaking soon, he would put her through hell.

"And I'm telling you, I don't know. I have no idea where your sister is." Saanvi was close to blowing his head off. What a menace! "Since you found out someone helped your sister, why can't you locate her? You have CCTV cameras everywhere."

"Interestingly," Aryan interrupted, gaining their attention to him. "We did find them."

"See..."

"And they are not in the Rathore Palace. Ishita left the place some time ago."

Now, Saanvi was at a loss for words.

"Get speaking. Your game is over." Veer was done entertaining her nonsense and he took a step toward her, forcing Saanvi to move back.

"And I have told you a thousand times and I'm telling you again, I don't know where your sister is. Please calm down and listen to me first. If I had a hand in helping your sister leave this place, why would I still be here? It's as if I'm waiting to be caught."

"Isn't that your plan? If you escaped with my sister, it'd be easy to find out who was the mastermind. So, you stayed behind to clear your name," Veer countered, putting all her objections to a void.

'That makes sense,' Saanvi thought, deviating from their argument for a moment. 'Wait, what am I thinking? I have gone crazy.'

"But what will I get out of helping your sister escape?"

"I don't know. You tell me." Veer's face was as dark as the cloudy sky and Saanvi realized that she was about to have it soon.

"Fine, fine. How about this? I have evidence to prove my innocence. You may ask my colleagues. I was here all along. I haven't left this place even once."

Veer didn't move. He didn't reply. He just kept glaring at her until Saanvi broke into a cold sweat.

"Veer, I think she's right. There's nothing wrong with asking them. Anyway, we can't do anything until we find Ishita," Aryan suggested from behind and Saanvi nodded.

Taking Veer's silence as her cue, Saanvi ran out of the surveillance room and approached her colleagues.

Veer and Aryan followed her closely.

A second later, Veer's phone dinged and he saw the message his men had sent him. "Ishita has been found and she is on her way back," he whispered to Aryan, making sure that only he heard him and Aryan sighed in relief.

"Guys, guys, can you tell me where I was some time ago?" Saanvi questioned, not knowing what was happening behind her. "These two men feel I had a hand in Miss Rathore's escape."

"I don't know where you were." The supervisor was the first to give up on her.

"What?" Saanvi was flummoxed and she almost shouted in anguish.

"You weren't here with us," her other colleagues added.

"You..."

"You are fired," Veer declared, not caring to listen to her anymore.

"You can't do that. You..." Saanvi's eyes were blazing with fire and she was close to pulling his hair. She was utterly livid, not only with Veer but also with her supervisor and her other colleagues.

"Be happy that I'm not handing you over to the police," Veer threatened and Saanvi looked around, her face losing all color when she noticed the media cameras aimed at her. The entire drama had been broadcast live and she was utterly humiliated on national television.

"You can't do this to me. I did nothing," Saanvi argued and looked at her supervisor again. "Why are you lying? Didn't I tell you I was going to the dining hall?"

"You're fired, Sharma. Leave from here." The supervisor didn't listen to her and pushed her into the fire. All she had in mind was to escape from Veer Rathore's wrath. If the man lost it, not just her but her entire company would be over.

Sacrificing Saanvi, who was nothing but an intern was better than putting her career and company in jeopardy.

"You..."

Saanvi's phone rang at that moment. On noticing who was calling her, she answered it immediately, giving Veer an annoyed look. At first, she was still furious. But as she listened to the other party's words, her entire world spun and her face became sickly pale. Her eyes welled up and she had to use of lot of strength to not collapse to her knees.

"I'll be there soon."

Veer looked at her silently. Although he was irate, the sight of her in tears tugged a string at his heart. The unusual feeling irked him and he scowled lightly.

Saanvi gritted her teeth and glared at all the people around her with tears in her eyes. "I will not let this go. Veer Rathore, I won't forget this humiliation. I, Saanvi Sharma, will fight you to death. Mark my words."

With that, she turned on her heels and ran out of the place.
