वेद वाणी 7-4-2
स गृत्सो अनिस्तरूणश्चिदस्तु यतो यविष्ठो अजनिष्ट मातुः।
सं यो वना युवते शुचिदन्भूरि चिदन्ना समिदतत्ति सद्यः॥ऋग्वेद ७-४-२॥
जैसे युवा अग्नि, माता अरणियों, से प्रकट होती है, इसी प्रकार इडा एवं पिंगला, दो नाडियां मिलकर, युवा प्राण अग्नि, सुषम्ना को प्रकट करती है। यह प्राण अग्नि, यज्ञ अग्नि की भांति ही, पहले तरूण, फिर दीप्त ज्वाला बनकर, योगी के, सन्चित कर्म फलो का, क्षय करती है। यज्ञ अग्नि भी, आहुतियों के माध्यम से, मिले अन्नादि को, अपने मे समा लेती है।
Just as the youthful Agni emerges from the Mother Aranis, similarly Ida and Pingala, the two Nadis together, reveal the youthful Prana Agni, Sushumna. This Prana Agni, like the Yagya Agni, first becomes young, then becomes a blazing flame, destroying the accumulated fruit of the karma of the yogi. The same way yagya fire also absorbed in itself the received ahuties.
