HUMANS AND NATURE
I was watching a program on the impact of human activity on nature and how we can minimize it. Speaker after speaker elaborated on the various aspects of the topic. Quite honestly, some of the things they mentioned about the damage to our environment were frightening and alarming.
“How did we come to this?” I wondered. “I mean, how did we humans wait till we did so much damage to our very home? And it is still continuing.”
Then I saw the title of the program and it hit he. The name was “Humans and Nature’.
(And – A conjunction that is used to join two words, phrases or sentences)
The word ‘and’ is used to join two things that are different. That’s where the root of all the problems lies.
When we say nature, should it not include humans? Why do we need a conjunction to join the two? The title of the program shows us the root cause of the problem. If you really think deeply about it, you will know that the problem started because we humans started thinking of ourselves as different from nature. We do not hurt anything that we think we are a part of.
‘Nature’ should include humans. ‘And’ should not be required. Make this change and see the improvement.
