If a rat is of stone,
then all will worship it,
If it is living they won't be at peace, until it is killed.
If the snake is of stone,
the people will worship it,
But, if it is living,
they will be at peace,
only if it is killed.
If the parents are in the photo,
they are prayed and worshipped,
But, if living, not so much appreciated.

It is not clear why people,
show love to inert objects like stone,
And 'hate' the living.
Supporting a dead body by the, shoulder is considered as 'punya',
But, nobody wants to support the, living (old) man or a woman.

(##): In my near domains, I have seen a few cases where the old parent/s were left at the mercy of their granddaughter/s or left alone (in an Ashram), and the other children came to demand the share, when these old people were dead!!!
And that granddaughter, in taking care of her mother's mother, left her job, and even remained unmarried.
In an another case, after the wife had died, the old man of 80 years was sent to an Ashram by his two sons!!

The inert objects are harmless, and living are bothersome, we love life but we are also afraid of others' life; we live in dilemma always, wherein we love our own life, and are in the fear that other living beings might cause some harm to us; we are too protective of our ownselves.
