WATER TIGHT COMPARTMENTS

Earlier, huge, spacious n open were our homes along with our hearts;

Divided they are now into water tight compartments or rooms, into small parts

One room for a member each; another member dare not its privacy breach

The elderly in a corner sit, their mouths silent but hearts loudly screech

Silence there is, speaks rarely one to the other; function efficiently mobiles only

Every one physically present is, yet everyone is absolutely lonely

This instrument, just one, engulfed has many; families today almost divided stand;

In water tight compartments there is voluntarily segregation, sadly on the same piece of land.

HAPPY RAKSHA BANDHAN

Rakhee is that tiny but beautiful silken thread,

Lovingly tied to your brother, be it white, blue or red.

Whilst making, with lots of love & care a Rakhee is fed.

What helps siblings to bind is this tiny silken thread,

Later in life when siblings, on their separate ways tread.

So parents, these values into our kids, let's please imbibe

Let's once again build that same loving caring tribe

We are part of Subhadra & Draupadi, asserted by the scribe

Today, looking back it seems like some genetic change;

LIFT YOUR BUTT

When tired or lazy I feel, often tell myself I have to, " Anar, please lift your butt"

When intently involved with a mobile in my hands, remind myself I have to, "to lift my butt"

Slouching, watching TV, or lazing around, I have to remind myself, " to lift my butt"

Lord, may my aches & pains, or depression not stop me from lifting my butt

Easy it is to say, "tomorrow," easy to procrastinate; but know I, I must lift my butt.

A little love & care give everyone, thrifty, please be not

Kindness to the needy give, especially to hardworking elders; a miser be not

From anyone their home snatch not; landsharks cruel be not

Strays go starving, a slice please spare, greedy be not

For birds n squirrels some water or leftovers spare, stone hearted be not

Trees n plants life have, a little with them share; please stingy be not.

🇮🇳ON THE EVE OF INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇮🇳

Happy I should be to our Independence Day celebrate, but, instead, sad I feel about our division

Sad about the fact that division this wounded us, also making us permanent enemies, because of a fractured vision

Hearts broken, homes broken, friendships broken, but the saddest is, so very many families broken;

Worse was our act of getting these ungrateful Bangladeshis their undeserving freedom,

That freedom that cost India, not just millions; but the lives of our valiant armed forces too;

That freedom, which they are using against us today, to destroy us indirectly, is about which I rue

Kashmir is broken into bits 3 because of greed for power & extremism; suffering is the common man

Unhealthy differences, divisions within the country, corruption, poverty, happy cannot be, a common man.

Pray I, God and Mother India, to wisdom grant unto us Her children, for a better n brighter future

Then, truly celebrate we can our independence, that independence which we looked forward to.
