BLACK KISS - 5 - Love Triangle

BLACK KISS

“Some kisses steal your soul.”

Chapter 5: Love Triangle

Love was no longer just a feeling.
It had become a pressure—something that did not let you breathe.

Akari felt it first.
Being close to Ren should have felt good. Years of having a crush, silent admiration, all of that. But now, when he was near, the black line on Akari’s lips began to burn. Her heart beat fast, but there was no warmth—only cold.

Ren talked to Akari, but his eyes kept searching for Mika.

And Mika… Mika had gone somewhere else entirely.
She did not look at Ren—
she claimed him.

In the canteen, in the classroom, in the corridors—Mika’s gaze was always on Ren. Akari noticed that whenever Mika stared, Ren’s hands unconsciously clenched into fists. As if he was holding himself together.

“Why are you avoiding her?” Akari asked Ren one day.

Ren laughed it off. “Stop overthinking.”

But Akari knew—this was not overthinking. It was the curse. And it was breaking all three of them in different ways.

For Mika, love meant possession.
For Akari, love meant fear.
And for Ren—love had become a matter of ego.

Yui was watching everything.
She never stepped in. Never spoke about her feelings. Sitting near the library window, she watched the three of them—Akari’s confused face, Ren’s controlled silence, Mika’s unstable smile.

For Yui, love had always meant sacrifice.
And maybe that was why the curse was the calmest around her—so far.

For Kaito, things were getting worse.
He knew Ren. His calm, his control—everything. But now Ren was different. Distant. Irritated. As if he was in someone else’s hands.

“Why aren’t you talking to me?” Kaito asked one evening, directly.

Ren looked away. “I’m fine.”

“You’re not fine,” Kaito said. “And the way Mika looks at you… it’s not normal.”

Ren’s ego woke up. “Are you getting jealous?”

That one line was enough.

Kaito stepped back, as if he had been slapped. There was pain in his eyes—but he said nothing. He just looked at Ren. For a long time.
And in that look, there was love.

That night, Akari felt the cold again. The black line on her lips had spread a little more. Looking in the mirror, she felt like she did not recognize herself anymore.

“We are all going wrong,” she whispered.

In a corner of the campus, Mika stood alone. Her eyes were shining—not with happiness, but with anticipation.

“You two cannot be together,” she said to herself. “Ren is only mine.”

Yui heard this from a distance.
Her heart grew heavy.

And Ren…
he was trapped in the middle—between two people’s love and one person’s obsession. He wanted to run, but letting go of control was something he could not accept.

The curse was working inside all of them—
breaking some slowly,
shattering some completely,
and making some smile while doing it.

The love triangle was not just about emotions.
It was a trap.

And the Black Kiss—
was tightening it.
