Split Personality

A romantic, paranormal and psychological thriller

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

“I can’t guess what you want to say.” With a confusing expression in her face Prameela said. “We already talked a lot about my step-mom, her marriage with dad, did not we?”

“Yes, you are right.” Yamuna nodded her head. “We have talked about her psychological disorder and her being treated by one famous psychiatrist Dr.Rose. I know about the BAMC in which she is working. I don’t know about her but BAMC is indeed famous.”

“Mom, come straight. What you indeed want to talk?” with an irritating expression in her face Prameela said.

“In fact I myself in confusion about how to talk this matter with you.” Yamuna got off form the sofa she sat, dragged a chair nearby opposite to her daughter and slumped herself in that. “What would be the reason that girl proposing herself to marry your dad like that?”

“Mom..............” Prameela stooped forward in the sofa and looked straight into the face of her mother. “Despite his fifty plus or so aged; dad is a handsome personality. He is a rich man also. So that girl attracted towards him and wanted to marry him.  Of course it was not because of only love that she wanted to marry him but what’s wrong? After all she is also a human being and wants comforts of richness.”

“I agree with you. But......”

“As long as she is giving happiness to dad and not trying to be infidel, I just cannot see anything wrong with her. In fact......” Prameela paused for a second as if to reiterate whatever she was going to say. “...........it was you who supported dad’s marrying that girl and advised me to be friendly with that girl. Now you are talking like this!” the irritation in Prameela was increased even more.

“You are jumping to conclusions without hearing me in full. Did I say that girl has a malafide intention in marrying your dad or your dad did a mistake by marrying that girl? Why don’t you try to be a little patient and listen to me carefully?” this time there was irritation in Yamuna also.

“Alright. Then first let me know what is really worrying you.” Prameela said and leaned back in the sofa fixing her gaze on the face of her mother.

“I am having a strong hunch that there is a strong reason for that girl’s entering into your dad’s life like that and in fact that girl also may not be known about that at all.”

“Why are you thinking like that?” Prameela knitted her brows together.

“If our feeling is supported by reasons it is not called a hunch.” Yamuna said. “I said it is a hunch. I don’t know why I am feeling like that but I am feeling that there was a strong reason for that girl’s becoming the wife of your dad. I repeat that girl also might not be known about it and forced by some paranormal to marry your dad.”

“Oh, mom. What you are talking?” Prameela laughed loudly on hearing that. “Have you forgotten that you are a famous and reputed gynaecologist? It is shocking to me that you do believe in hunches and paranormal.”

“It is equally shocking to me also that she does believe in such things. But she is so from the beginning and I could not change her.” On hearing that voice Prameela turned back and found Madhukar there. “This time her feeling regarding your dad’s second marriage is even more and I just don’t know what to do.” After saying that Madhukar came and sat beside Prameela on the sofa. Just like every time, Prameela was feeling uneasily to sit beside him like that.

Prameela sighed heavily and remained silent. What her mother has said indeed put her into some thinking. Even she has to agree ultimately that there was some paranormal involvement with the problem of Evalla, she did not think of there would have been a paranormal reason for her marrying her father also.

“Sometimes I get irritation on myself for giving room to this type of feelings but you know it has become a weakness............”

“No, mom. Your feeling may not be completely groundless.” Prameela interfered and said. “I did not think in this way till this moment but on thinking deep it is appearing what you have said also may be true.”

“Till this moment I have thought it is only your mom but now you also started in thinking such a way!” there was irritation in Madhukar.

“Madhu, just remember what you have promised to me, how do you forget like that?” Yamuna said angrily. “Did not you make a promise to find a solution to solve Viswa’s problem?”

“Of course I did. And I still remember that.” Madhukar laughed out. “But you know I have a little problem in believing in paranormal.”

“Dad, to be frank.............” Prameela always feel odd to address him like that but she did not know any other way. “..............until very recently dad and I also did not believe in paranormal. But the circumstances made us to believe in that.”

“Okay dear! Whether it is paranormal or otherwise I do everything that I can to keep your dad, mom and you free of all problems.” Once again Madhukar looked into the face of Prameela and the usual odd feeling in his company was just so to her.

“It is surprising to me that you too also do bother about dad and his family in this way!”

“I have my share in making your dad suffer. Moreover your dad without any protest let your mom divorce him and came to me. I do always remember and be grateful to that. I always wish that your father to be happy.” Madhukar said.

“Okay dad! I understand.” Prameela laughed then but her face suddenly became serious and she looked into the face of her mother. “If there is any other reason what could be that for her entering into my dad’s life?”

“Your dad is a handsome personality with lots of money. That indeed would be an inspiration to any girl to enter into his life willingly.” Madhukar said.

“Of course, I agree.” Yamuna said “But I am feeling so strong that there must have been some paranormal reason for her entering into your dad’s life and worrying how it is going to affect his family”.

“I thought in the way dad said. That also could be true. But mom, Sadan put Evalla under hypnosis and tried to know about her childhood. It is better that you know what happened in that process.” Then Prameela explained to her what they could come to know from Evalla by putting her under hypnosis.  Prameela already told to her mother about Sadan’s coming to India and joining her organisation.

“The name of the split-personality in her is Okatho and as per its saying it is her sister! Quite surprising to me.” With lot of surprise in her face Yamuna said. “So far you have told me that she has been suffering from a split-personality disorder and that split personality is saying her name as Okatho. Her saying that she is Evalla’s sister is new development.”

“There is a lot I did not tell you yet.” Yamuna and Madhukar both listened so attentively while Evalla was explaining about Amsara and Okatho being her devotee and what happened to her and her family.

“Put aside whether it is paranormal or not” Yamuna’s face was with full of anger by the time Evalla finished. “I just cannot bear that a poor woman was gang-raped while she was pregnant and her daughter also being gang-raped in such a way. What types of rascals are there in this world living along with us?” her voice was loud and with anguish.

“Relax dear! It all may be concoction of that Evalla without her knowledge as she has been suffering from a psychological disorder.” Madhukar said.

“Whether it is true or not, there are such rascals in the world and incidents like these are happening on helpless women now and then.” Prameela said. “Anyhow if we do believe in paranormal, it is better that we do believe in what Okatho said also.”

“Alright, I agree.” Madhukar nodded his head. “How any of this would be a reason to that girl to marry your dad?”

“That is what we need to find out. We have to find a way to know about why she married him particularly and what type of problems he is going to face because of that.” Yamuna said with firmness.

“In fact he is already facing problems because of her but..........” Prameela paused for a second. “............I must say he is very happy also with her.”

“That is something we can feel happy about.” Yamuna said. “A long time back he deserved such happiness with the association of a woman.”

“Mom, I must say one thing more. His happiness is not just because of her beauty and youth. He is saying that he is indeed in love with her and just because of that he is happy like that.”

“I agree. May be there is some bond between them both in their previous lives also.” Yamuna said.

“Will you please stop talking in such a way?” Madhukar angrily said. “Still I am thinking that it is quite better to take that as a psychological disorder and treat it in such a way.”

“Dad, we have been treating her problem in that way also. A famous and reputed psychiatrist Dr.Rose is doing that.” Looking into his face Prameela said. “And I am also of the opinion I just said. She married my dad as he is handsome and rich but as she is giving happiness to him there is nothing to complaint.”

“If you cannot see this problem as paranormal also and help us in solving it, you may better leave Madhukar.” Whenever Yamuna got angry with her husband she would call him with his full name like that. “But don’t try to convince us that there is no paranormal at all.”

“I am once again very sorry.” Suddenly with a sorrowful expression in his face Madhukar said. “I have a little problem in believing in paranormal but I don’t completely disbelieve it either. Anyhow I am thinking it is better try to know why she married you dad through the same process, I mean by putting her under hypnosis.”

“You are right of course.” Prameela nodded her head with a thoughtful expression in her face. “Consciously she may not know why she has been prompted to marry my dad. But subconsciously if she does, it can be known through hypnosis.”

“And Sadan can do that. Tell about it to Sadan and see what he would say.” Yamuna suggested.

“Sadan certainly would agree to this.” Prameela said. “He sure would not have this idea but once I say this, he sure does know about it from Evalla under hypnosis.”

“But dear, how that Evalla is going to react to any of this? Would she agree that there would be any other reason for her marrying your dad except what she is thinking?” Madhukar said.

“I cannot guess how she reacts but I have decided to say this to her. I think that I can persuade her to the experiment. She is very amicable and always thinks only about the well being of my dad.” The frowns on the forehead of Prameela insinuated that she was thinking in herself and after a little pause she said. “In fact I asked this question to her and her answer was surprising! She did not know why but she strongly attracted towards my dad and wanted to live along with him. So she asked him to marry her and it happened like that.”

“Alright dear. Plan it in someway and post the matters to me. I am really very much worrying that I cannot interfere directly to do anything with his life.” Yamuna sighed heavily.

Prameela got off from the sofa, went back to the chair of her mother, put her both hands around her neck and kissed on her head. “You just be relaxed mom, I tell you everything and everything is going to be alright.” Then she relieved her mother and straightened herself up. “May I have to go back without meeting my brother this time? Where he is held up this long?”
