“It takes four years or so more. I just entered into my first year medicine. You know it and still asks like this. ” He laughed and said. “If you wait two minutes, I refresh myself and come back. We are going to take our supper together on this day.”
“I am sorry. Not on this day. I came here long time back and I need to return now.” She said with a smile. “On some other day we both do have together not only supper but lot of fun also.”
“If you keep your promise, it is okay to me your going now.”
“I keep all promises I do to my little brother.” She once again put her right hand around his shoulders and this time kissed on his right cheek. “I go now. Bye” after taking her hand away from him, for the last time she looked into the faces of her mother and half-brother and came out of that place.

“I want to talk something with you.” Viswanadh still could remember that day when Yamuna asked him with urgency and concern in her voice.
“We sure do talk but not now.” Putting himself completely in the papers he was looking at that time, Viswanadh said. “I am in very much important work now and cannot concentrate whatever you are going to say.”
“But I cannot bear this for long. A decision has to be taken fast. I want to talk this with you for a long time but you are not giving me a chance at all.” The irritation was clear in her voice which was reflecting in her face also abundantly.
Viswanadh put the papers on the table before putting a paperweight on them and made his swivelling chair turned towards her. “You are pregnant again, is it is not?” with a smile on his lips he asked her. “If it is as simple as that, you need not be anxious like this at all. It would indeed be a very happy news to both of us.”
“Don’t jump to conclusions without listening me full, Viswanadh.” Her calling him like that was surprising him. Her usual way of addressing him was ‘Viswa’. “It is not just because of the bloody reason I am pregnant again that I am anxious like this.”
“Then tell for what other bloody reason you are anxious like this?” warning bells started ringing in Viswanadh. He did not know why but a ball of uneasiness started expanding in him.
“I cannot live with you anymore Viswanadh. I want to go away.”
“You are a reputed doctor and I know you can live anywhere happily without any trouble.” Viswanadh got off from the chair and said looking straight into her face. “But am I deserved to know why you took a decision suddenly like that?” his heart beat increased more and he could not guess any reason for that.
“It is not sudden decision Viswanadh. It is in my mind for a long time and you just have not given me a chance to express me like this.” Suddenly there was an uneasy expression in her face also and Viswanadh understood that she was also facing trouble to express herself so at him.
“But for god’s sake why? Why do you want to go away from me and live on your own?” Viswanadh did not realise that he was yelling at the pitch of his voice.
“Just because I am in love with someone else and I cannot live without him.” She also vehemently said.
Viswanadh felt if as if all the strength in his body was drained and he slumped in the chair again. His heart filled with shock and it reflected in his face also in the equal measure. “Did I hear it right? Tell me, tell me again?”
“You heard it right, bloody hell you heard it right.” She closed her face in both her palms and burst into weeping. “He entered into my life again. I never have expected that a thing like this would happen. If I have expected this, I would not have married you at all.” Amidst her terrible weeping Yamuna blurted out.
“What you did not expect? What really has taken place?” Viswanadh could not understand how he was talking like that! At that moment what he was feeling was utter shock.
“Madhukar and I both were lovers. We both studied medicine together and in those days itself we both were in love with each other. But under unavoidable circumstances, he has to marry some other girl. As my parents compelled me to marry, I have to marry you.” She was wiping away the tears.
“That means what the love and affection you have shown on me all these days is just your acting! You never have felt any love on me.” But it was indeed quite surprising to me. In those four or so years of their married life, no one else could love her husband as she did to him.
“Yes, you are right.” She nodded her head. “I liked you a lot and forced myself to act like that but my real love is only for Madhukar.”
“Alright. If you cannot love me, I don’t force you to do that. But what about our daughter?” Viswanadh asked her.
“I am not going to trouble you with that little girl Viswanadh. I take her with me. She grows up in my affectionate care and custody.” she said.
“I kill you on the spot if you do say it like that again.” Viswanadh got off from the chair angrily and yelled “If you want to go away, you go away all alone. I don’t even let you touch my daughter, understood!”
“But she needs me at this time Viswa. You just don’t know how much a child of her age needs her mom. At the same time.......” she tried to say something more.
“My daughter does not need a mother who wants to go away and settle with another person happily. I can look after everything of her. You just get out.” Viswanadh did not yell this time but he was still angry and his voice was vehement.
“But Viswa.....”
“Don’t call me again Viswa. I am not feeling any intimacy with you to be addressed so.”
Viswanadh once again slumped in his chair and there was some painful silence between them both until Yamuna broke it. “I am sorry. I am terribly sorry.”
“You can go. You can go away at any point of time. But forget about our daughter, no, my daughter. Just forget that you are the mother of my child.”
It did not take long afterwards to Yamuna to take divorce from Viswanadh and marry the other person who was also a doctor. Viswanadh did not understand how a woman who lived with a man happily for five years or so and after having him a baby also with him could leave him and marry other person as if nothing took place in her life! If there were differences between them both, if for a long time she expressed herself at him that she wanted to be separated from him, Viswanadh would not have been shocked and disturbed that much. But Yamuna was so good to him in all respects till that moment and he did not think in his wildest imagination also that Yamuna would go away from him in such a way.
To divert his mind from the distress caused by his wife, Viswanadh did two things mainly. One, he concentrated and focussed completely on his daughter and two, he put himself completely in developing his business. Might be because of his whole hearted concentration Viswanadh could become utmost successful in both those tasks. Just as he hoped Prameela could become quite educated and she completed her M.B.A. in U.S.A. to help her dad and his business has reached tremendous heights with a huge turnover and its share price was in four digits. His business has got other subsidiary businesses also and even they were also going quite successfully, not listed either in BSE or NSE. His daughter was going to become owner of all his businesses as he alone has more than seventy five percent share in the company listed in the share market and absolutely owned the other businesses.
Even he wanted to cut off Yamuna from the life of Prameela completely, he could not do it like that. He knew very well that a daughter needs her mother more than she needs her father so he always allowed the relationship between Yamuna and Prameela but Prameela slowly understood what her mother did and reduced her intimacy with her as much as possible. Always the father and daughter were one, sharing the things with each other.
It was still very much puzzling to Viswanadh how it has happened like that on that day. Evalla was a beautiful girl and he had seen beautiful girls in the past also and the effect was just so as it was every time. His passion to develop in the business was that much that however much the desire in him to have a woman after Yamuna left him like that, he did not think about it at all. He worked like that without giving room to bodily urges until his businesses reached the milestone of one lakh crores turnover and by that time he stopped feeling any urge at all. When he offered her a job and when she got into his car also, he has no other idea at all except to provide means to her to live her life peacefully.
But it all started when she proposed marriage to him. He just did not know how it has become possible like that but her simply asking like that took the whole change in him. For the first time, after her asking so, her glamour and her wonderful youth came into his view. How vehemently he wanted to say ‘no’ to her request! If he wanted, he could have more glamorous girls than her but something specific in her, something he himself did not understand made him agree to that proposal. Suddenly he started feeling that much of her, he did not even bother how his daughter Prameela was going to be affected by that. Miraculously he found his whole heart filled with her. Just in one week from that day, they both have become man and wife.
“How you are feeling to be my wife now?” when they both were all alone in a room, after their marriage, Viswanadh asked her keeping her smoothly in his hug.
“Just fantastic! Wonderful!” she put her both hands around his neck and kissed on his lips straight. “I never have thought that this type of a wonderful thing would take place in my life!”
“What really made you to choose me for marriage?” looking straight into her face, he asked her. “If you are really frank in your answer, I shall be quite happy. Whatever may be the reason for your marrying me, there is no question that I do leave you now.”
“I don’t know, I cannot say.” The expression in her face was genuine. “Even you think that I chose to marry you for your wealth, I have no objection.” She laughed. “I am afraid even it is also may be the reason for my marrying you.”
