Split Personality

A romantic, paranormal and psychological thriller

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

“I met that psychiatrist recently and talked with her also.” Thinking furiously whether to tell her or not about her going to the Alambana orphanage and extracting information about her from there, Evalla said.

“What that psychiatrist said then? Is she going to give me the hypnotherapy or something soon enough?” with a hopeful expression in her face Evalla asked her.

“Before telling you about that I want to say something more. I hope that you don’t get angry on me as I did that without telling you and without your permission.” Looking into the face of Evalla with a regretful expression Prameela said.

“You are my well wisher. You never do anything that harms me or upsets me. Just tell me what you did?” stooping forward in the chair and looking curiously into the face of Prameela, Evalla asked her.

“I went to the orphanage where you have grown up and talked with Madhumathi there.”

“What’s wrong in it?” Evalla laughed and leaned back in the chair. “It just shows how much concern you have on me.”

“But by talking with her, I have come to know some strange facts.” Prameela came to the decision to tell her what she has come to know about her in that asylum.

“What are those strange things, may I know?” the curious expression in her face was just so.

“Your split-personality problem is not a recent one. You have been suffering from it for a long time.”

“What?” Evalla’s face was instantly filled with a shocking expression. “I have been suffering from it for a long time? What does that mean?”

“You have entered into that orphanage at your twelfth year or so. From that time itself, that Okatho used to expose in you. The people and children there knew about it.”

“I just cannot understand, I just cannot!” nodding her head helplessly Evalla said.

“Please don’t become anxious. I just thought that you do know about this so I told you.”

“Alright then. What other things you came to know about me there?” coming out of her shock and adjusting herself in the chair for more comfort Evalla asked.

“That’s it. Nothing more. Your split-personality is not a recent problem and you did not remember anything regarding your past before you entered into that orphanage.” Prameela sighed heavily. She did not want to say to Evalla that people in that orphanage used to feel fear towards her because of her occasional odd behaviour.

“It is not a split-personality or some psychological disorder. It is I who came into her so in those days. Okatho.”

Prameela startled on hearing Evalla like that! She instantly understood who was talking like that then. Okatho exposed in her again. “Okatho.............” with Prameela said.

“Yes, I am Okatho. It was I who exposed in her then and made the people there fearful!............” she started laughing loudly.

“Its alright. I agree with what you said. Don’t laugh like that.” Prameela said observing Evalla keenly.

“You people don’t want me in her. She herself also does not like me in her. You all want to expel me from her and I am not going to allow it at all.” Suddenly a menacing expression has come into the face of Evalla.

“She cannot allow a stranger in her like that.” Her sudden turning out fearsome like that created little fear in Prameela. “How can she allow a stranger in her so? She and we also have to know about you in full to tolerate you in her body. Tell us who are you and why you are in her body? Why do you present only in her body?”

“I know why do you want to know about me you bitch!” Evalla yelled loudly and got off from the bed. “Then it shall become easy to expel me from her body. You are thinking that it is possible if you know about me in full.”

Prameela tried to do something with fear stricken eyes but she suddenly felt the hands of Evalla around her neck. She started strangling Prameela and her grip was so forceful and strong and however much Prameela was trying to relinquish it by holding her both arms with her hands she just could not budge them even an inch. She started feeling a reeling sensation and she understood that it continued for some more time she sure would be dead.

“What, what the bloody hell you are doing?” Viswanadh who entered into that room then slapped on the right cheek of Evalla forcibly before holding her with both of his hands and dragged her back.

“What, what’s happening?” instantly there came a shocking expression into the face of Evalla and she was shocked with confusion.

“What is happening? You are going to kill my daughter just in few seconds if I did not come into this room in time.” Looking angrily into the face of Evalla, Viswanadh said.

Once released from the hands of Evalla so, coughing heavily Prameela slumped herself in the nearby chair there rubbing her neck smoothly with both of her hands. What Viswanadh said then appeared absolutely true to Prameela.

“Are you alright? Are you feeling okay now?” putting his right hand on the right shoulder of Prameela and looking into her face anxiously, Viswanadh asked her. “May I call our doctor?”

“Not necessary dad. I am feeling alright now.” Prameela stopped massaging and removed her hands from her neck.

“I really did not remember any of that. Oh, god! What should I do now? I have become potential danger to you people now.” Evalla also slumped in the chair before she sat, covered her face in both of her palms before broke out herself into weeping.

“There is no mistake on your part Eva.” Prameela got off from the chair, went behind Evalla’s chair and put her both hands around her neck. “It was not you who did it like that. It was the split-personality who is in you did so.”

“I know that it is the bloody bitch who did so to you.” Evalla controlled her weeping, got off from the chair she sat and looked into the face of Prameela anxiously after putting her both hands around her shoulders. “But what is the guarantee that it would not make me do like that again to you? We cannot expect that every time that your dad intrude like this and save you.”

Prameela and Viswanadh looked into each other faces anxiously. They could not rule out such a possibility at all.

“Moreover I may try to do harm to your dad also.” The anxiousness was just so in the face of Evalla.

“We cannot say that there is no such possibility.” Prameela said.  “We think about what to do. You don’t unnecessarily feel worry about it.”

“There is only one thing that we have to do now.” With a sudden firmness in her voice Evalla said. “We need to ask that psychiatrist to do something to relieve me from that character Okatho. Then only we all can feel safe.”

“That is the exact thing we need to do now, Pramee............” Viswanadh said looking into the face of his daughter “...............as there is ample opportunity to happen what Evalla is feeling fear.”

“It is indeed a pleasant site that you three come to me to talk like this!” Rose laughed and leaned back in the chair. “I am just feeling very much eager to hear what you are going to say.”

Prameela and Viswandh thought that it would be better to take Evalla also with them when they go to meet Rose in BAMC. So they met her in her chamber in BAMC at the scheduled time.

“But what I do say is not pleasant doctor.” Then Prameela explained to her how Evalla tried to kill her and how her dad intruded in the last moment and saved her from death.

“I am feeling fear that bloody Oakatho may make me do such attempts in future also. I am feeling fear that I may cause potential harm to my husband and daughter.” Suddenly with an anxious expression in her face Evalla said. “I don’t want it to happen like that. I don’t want any harm to be done either to my husband or to my daughter by me.”

“Your fear is not groundless dear and I do really appreciate your concern regarding your people.” Rose balanced her both arms on the table in between their chairs. “Your coming forward yourself for treatment to your psychological disorder is indeed a very good sign.”

“Then is it is possible to relieve me from that devil fast? You just don’t know how much desperate I am to be freed from it and lead a happy life with my family.” With eagerness Evalla asked Rose.

“Here I want to be frank with you three.” Suddenly with a serious expression in her face Rose said. “I never give any false hopes to anyone and I cannot do so now either. Split-personality problems or multiple personality problems are difficult to deal with. Sometimes we may have to advise the subjects to adjust with the personalities and lead their rest of lives with them depending upon the situation.”

“So you are going to suggest my wife also just to do it like that? Live the rest of her life adjusting with the other character in her? Then I must say we have chosen a wrong psychiatrist for my wife.” Viswanadh’s face was filled with angry on hearing that.

“I did not suggest anything like that to your wife yet Mr.Viswanadh and if necessary be I may suggest that to her also.” Leaning back in the chair and looking into the face of Viswanadh straight Rose said. “I always try to be a sincere psychiatrist. I do never mind if you find another psychiatrist for your wife’s treatment. But I am thinking it is my responsibility to put the facts as they are before you.”

“Dad, please try to be patient and listen whatever she is going to say.” Looking into the face of Viswanadh, Prameela said. “We all very well know that Dr.Rose is a famous and reputed psychiatrist.”

“I am sorry doctor.” With a regretful expression in his face Viswanadh said. “Please tell us whatever you want to say.”

“Your wife’s split-personality disorder is not a recent one. She has been suffering from it for a long time. Even from her childhood I think. To remove a character at once which has been in her for such a long time is not possible. I already said, if we do mistakes in her treatment, there is a grave danger that character may become permanent in her. That means we find only that Okatha all the time in her body and no Evalla.”

“You have told us about this danger doctor.” Prameela said with a fear filled heart. That thought itself was very much fearful to her.

“We don’t know anything about the other character Okatho except it wants the grace of a bad god Amsara and wants to take revenge on her enemies. Curing a split-personality disorder depends upon the strength of that character also. So far by what has taken place we can say that it is a very powerful character. If we try to remove it from Evalla’s body without its consent, it may be turned out even more violent. Just remember her trying to strangle Prameela was only because of her knowing that we are trying to expel it from Evalla’s body. So.....”

“Doctor, here I cannot understand one thing!” Prameela interrupted and said. “You are talking as if there is really some Okatho in Evalla’s body. Is it is not just the creation of subconscious of Evalla?”

“Absolutely so, you need no doubt in it at all.” Nodding her head positively Rose said “But don’t think just because it is our mind it would not act opposite to us. We don’t know the reasons for certain but her subconscious created the character Okatho in her. Unless we know the reasons for the creation of that Okatho, we cannot do anything to her.”
