Trembling Shadows
A romantic, psychological thriller
Kotra Siva Rama Krishna
“As if made for someone important” Sameera said.
“How it would be if we go and sleep on that” going near to that Sameera said again.
“Don’t rush to it. I am getting an ominous feeling looking at that” observing the bed with suspicion, Sunanda said. But by that time itself Sameera went near to the bed and sat on that.
“Oh…” Sunanda hissed out impatiently.
“Nothing happened. Come here and enjoy this” testing the smoothness of the bed Sameera said.
As there was nothing to do then, Sunanda went near to the bed and sat beside Sameera.
“Oh, it is quite good and smooth as you have said. If we lie on this with someone loving…” while her heart speeding up with anticipation Sunanda said “How it would be?”
Sameera laughed and said “Unimaginable to me. I am having no loving one and I had no experience before.”
“But I have. It would be just wonderful! Letting someone doing those things on us while we groan with pleasure! That too on a smooth and cozy bed like this! Just terribly wonderful!” circling her eyes beautifully in their sockets, Sunanda said.
“Would it be so?” making her eyes wide in their sockets, Sameera asked her.
“It would be exactly so” Sunanda nodded her head and said. “You are quite unfortunate that you did not give a chance to anyone to do those things on you yet. Just let someone….” Sunanda tried to say something more.
“Oh, shut up!” while her cheeks were blushing to the maximum Sameera yelled.
“You just don’t know how much pleasure I have felt when the first time those things happened on my body by someone I was interested. It was as much pleasurable as with the first guy with the other guys also but the first guy and first experience are always memorable.” Observing Sameera minutely, Sunanda said.
“Even I have no experience so far, I agree with you” Sameera nodded her head and said.
“I am sincerely and seriously saying. Don’t leave that Aravind to someone else. He is the only person equal to your glamor dear.” Changing the topic, with a pleading expression in her face, Sunanda said.
“Alright, alright. I think about it.” Sameera smiled and said.
After a little pause Sameera said again “Tell me now, how everything is with you?” she placed her right hand on the right shoulder of Sunanda firmly but friendly and squeezed it.
Sunanda closed her eyes and leaned back onto the wall there going near to it. It seemed she was hesitating to say something to Sameera.
“You are trying to hide matters even from me too” Sameera also went near to the wall, leaned on that, took a deep breath relaxing herself and looked into the face of Sunanda.
“It is not so in fact” Sunanda opened her eyes and looked at Sameera “How everything is to me…. you are my best friend. I must tell you the truth… not very good at present” with a small voice she said.
“For which thing you meant that?” Sameera asked her. She was not that much shocked. She could understand a little that there was something wrong with Sunanda and her husband.
“My marital life… my very family life…” with a slow and sad voice Sunanda said.
“What happened to it then? Anand is such a nice boy” frowning herself Sameera asked.
“Who said Anand is not a nice boy. But you know I am not that much of a nice girl”
There was silence again. The sorrow in the voice and face of her friend was melting the heart of Sameera.
“What happened and how it happened to break the happiness of your marital life? First tell me about that” with the hope she might find the solution to her problem by knowing what wrong, Sameera asked.
“You know my friendship with some boys. He came to know my intimacy with them before my marriage.” Taking deep breaths Sunanda said.
“I see” Sameera thoughtfully said. “But how it has happened? Are not you atleast that much careful not letting him know about that?” looking into the eyes of Sunanda she asked.
Then Sunanda told her how it has happened. Sameera already knew the weakness of her friend talking in her dreams.
“How silly, how unbelievable! I just don’t know whether to laugh or to weep” she paused a moment and then continued “But you both are appearing to all of us as if there are no differences in between you”
“We are giving a show like that. But what has been happening inside is a different thing.”
“Is he is torturing you? Making you feel bad?” with inquiring eyes Sameera asked.
There was silence. Sunanda closed her eyes and drew a long breath.
Sameera jerked the shoulder of Sunanda and asked.” You must tell me. You are my best friend. I cannot let you suffer like this in silence.”
“You cannot do anything Sameera. He is torturing me of course but you cannot see any evidence of it. In fact I too did wrongs and I deserve this punishment.” Without opening her eyes Sunanda said.
“Don’t talk rubbish. Everyone is having boyfriends now-a-day. Everyone does wrongs, who doesn’t? Is there any proof that Anand never did any wrong? He cannot get a right to torture you just because you did some wrongs in your past”
“Oh, how nicely said!” Sunanda opened her eyes and laughed. “Everyone does wrongs. What a rational analyzation! What a broad way of thinking! Splendid! But why cannot you think like that when it comes to your mother?”
“She got pregnancy before marriage with someone other than her husband. She got aborted the same. Is it is not a sin? If she allowed the baby to live I may have a brother or sister of your age by now” Sameera angrily said.
“I already told you Sameera, have you forgotten? No. It is not so. She did not cause the abortion. It happened all by itself. My mother said.” Sunanda strongly protested.
Sameera closed her eyes but did not say anything. What Sunanda said could be true but her mind was not interested in accepting it.
“By the time when it happened she was quite young. Two years or so young to your age now. Having just eighteen years or so of age” finding Sameera in silence she said again. “It is quite natural doing mistakes at such an age. She so desperately wanted to keep the child. But it was a miscarriage at the six month of her pregnancy itself and my mom could save only your mom.”
Sameera became even more angry when she heard about Malathi. But she did not say anything. Her anger towards her mother either did not lessen at all even after hearing what Sunanda said. Why could not she take the wrong doings of her parents and Malathi as she took the wrong doings of Sunanda, she could not understand.
“Why not you are talking? Why your tongue tied?” looking into the eyes of Sameera, Sunanda asked.
“For the time being shall we put this matter aside?” Sameera curtly said.
“Its alright then” Sunanda shrugged her shoulders.
“The main topic has got deviated” Sameera reminded her “We are talking about your marital life. Your troubles with your husband.”
“Shall we put that too aside for the time being” with a smile Sunanda said.
“But I cannot let you suffer in such a way. I cannot tolerate my closest friend troubling herself so.” The concern in her voice was genuine and that moved Sunanda indeed.
“The problem would be solved Sameera” with a lightened voice Sunanda said. “I know after my parents you are the one who bother about me a lot. There is a problem in my family life but that would be solved, I shall see it would be solved, you don’t worry.” Sunanda assured her. Suddenly she felt quite confident in herself.
“Its alright then” Sameera nodded her head and smiled. She did not see any use in continuing that conversation on that topic after hearing her friend so.
“Even you mind, I want to say to you something” after a little pause Sunanda said.
“Say whatever it is. I am not going to mind whatever it may be” Sameera said looking into the face of Sunanda. There was rather serious expression in her face. Sameera tried to guess what she was going to say.
“Never wear this type of a dress again. Have you seen yourself in the mirror how you are appearing? It is better to be completely naked.”
Sameera’s cheeks blushed instantly on hearing that. It was not in her guess at all. “Are you thinking that your dress is so decent? First see yourself in the mirror. Your tight blouse is not covering anything. It is accentuating your big breasts. Just look at under your neck, my God! And you are completely oblivious of your naked part of hip. You might not have observed what a feast of your beauty you have given to that Ratnam and his assistant.” Sameera angrily said.
“They looked at me so and I noticed” Sunanda laughed and said “But even more ravenously they devoured your beauty with their eyes! You might be completely unaware of it then. Alright, I agree that my dress as well is exposing my youth. But it is not as much exposing as yours. Please don’t wear this type of dress again. Have not you brought any other dress with you?” Sunanda asked her.
“No, I have not brought any other dress with me.” Sameera lied. Sameera had no intention to change that dress at all. There was only one aim to her in wearing those types of dresses. That was to irritate her parents.
“If you agree I can give one of my dresses to you.” Sunanda said.
“No, I don’t need. Don’t try to take this topic again as long as we stay here. I am going down” Sameera said.
“Alright, alright. I also do come with you. Don’t hurry yourself.” Sunanda also got off from the bed and came near to Sameera.
Then they both crossed the doorsil of that room and Sameera was about to move right side which would lead to the staircase to go downstairs.
“Just a moment” Sunanda stopped her by clutching her right arm with her right hand. “This is that very room.” she went near to the doors of the room beside the right side of the room in which they spent till then. She took the big lock of it into her hands. “What a big lock it is! If there are no bodies in it, what is the necessity to lock it like this.” she said.
“May be you are right.” Sameera said with a whispering tone. “I am feeling fear even to stand here thinking there are dead bodies in it.”
“I am also feeling in the same way.” Sunanda nodded her head and left the lock in her hands immediately.
“But we have taken the decision not to feel fear unnecessarily. Even it is true what the dead bodies can do to us?” forcing a courageous expression into her face, Sameera said.
“You are absolutely true.” Sunanda nodded her head. “Anyhow we do go downstairs now.”
Then they both moved away from that place.
