The Power of Empowerment

Rani is living in village called Narsapuram. Rani is from small family. She has one younger brother called Surya. She was basically from farmer’s family. Her father is a farmer. He is illiterate. Rani’s mother was a homemaker. She studied up to 10th standard.

Rani’s father Manohar owned 1-acre agriculture land in their village. Their family income is only depending on their agriculture land. Last year due to poor monsoon they got less income from crop. They got into financial crisis. Manohar has taken crop loan from bank for his agriculture expenditures. Now Bankers were refusing to give loan again.

Surya is 10 years old, studying in 7th class. Rani has completed +2 education. From childhood onwards her teachers used to praise her as a brilliant student. Due to financial crisis there is less possibility of continue her higher studies.

In this financial crisis Rani’s father doesn’t have enough money to provide education for both the children’s and decided to stop rani’s higher education. And he has a thought that his son will earn money for family in future if I provide him education and he should plan for her daughter’s marriage in one or two years.

By the decision of his father rani felt sad that she has to discontinue her studies. Rani’s mother being literate, she has thought that her both children’s should get good education for their empowerment in the society. She decided that she will sell her gold ornaments for rani’s education. When she shared her thought to his husband, he refused it by saying we have to save money for rani’s marriage. Rani’s mother was unhappy with her husband thought, but she was not comment anything.

However, Rani’s mother was kept her ornaments for mortgage in jewelry shop without informing to his husband. And she paid money for “Charted Accountant (CA)” coaching for her daughter. Her daughter is scared about his father because he doesn’t know that she is going for coaching. To support financially to her family Rani used to go for job as receptionist in morning hours and coaching in evening hours. However, she concentrated on her CA coaching without wasting time. Her family still suffering financial problems due to poor monsoon.

During this critical situation, she has written her CA examinations. However, she passed exams with first rank. The next day her father’s friend Praveen has seen in newspaper regarding rani’s results. And he came with enthusiastically to share about Rani’s success. When Rani’s father heard this news he felt guilty for refusing his wife and for stopping Rani’s higher education. However, now he felt proud about her child success. And he realized himself that we should encourage boy and girl equally for their individual growth.

Rani got good offer from top Multinational (MNC) company. She started earning. After few years she become an entrepreneur by establishing own company and with some friends she has also started NGO for helping poor students to continue their education.
