Chapter 7
New Inception
I promised my grandmother that I would join politics but it was also fact that the era when my father was in politics was different and current scenario was also different. I could stand individually, and could become independent candidate but that would restrict me just only to my constituency. I wanted to serve for my nation, but my base would be the place where I was born, and brought up. It is always good feeling when you settle outside India in a foreign country, but it is also feeling of proud when you really do something for your motherland. It is real patriotism when you do something for your country, Sometimes it is not necessary to join politics. You can serve by any way, by helping people of this country. I was joining politics as I told you reasons behind that.
Let me come back to my point. I decided to join political party whose ideology could be agreeable to me. Therefore, I joined party and asserted that I would contest in election of state legislative assembly. My joining was largely debated in media of state. I had only dream to come in power because without that I couldn’t do anything at grass root level. However, it was long way to go.
I started attending public meetings. I also attended several interviews to present them my political view, and manifested to public what changes I wanted to bring, my planning for that, and how I was going to implement them. I started giving public speeches. People were expecting too many things from me as I was a young politician. Moreover, they found something charismatic in me.
I was introduced with too many people of my party. I only wanted trustworthy people, and I wanted those people only who had no lust for money or power, but they really wanted to do something for our people and for our nation. Though I met too many people, I found few loyal people among them. In my constituency I visited too many villages and hamlets. I found that some of them had not basic facilities like regular supply of water, transportation facilities like roads which detached them from their headquarters and developed towns. Even though I hailed from that place, I didn’t know actual situation about that. I understood now why my grandmother told me that I should join politics and served for people.
It is also fact that whenever you initiate any good work that you want to do, impediments would come in between your way. I was lucky that at initial stage of my political career I met good political advisor. One of those good political advisors was Virendra Joshi who played significant role at initial stage.
We know that we have to take our own decision but for that we need some basic information before taking decision. Virendra Joshi provided me information about that which helped me a lot.
