मज़दूर बापकश्मीर लाल 17 साल का एक नौजवान लड़का था जो राजस्थान से था। सब उसे "लाल लाल" कहकर बुलाते थे। लाल बहुत ही बदतमीज़ और खर्चीला लड़का था, जबकि उसका बाप एक मज़दूर था, जो जगह-जगह जाकर काम मिलने पर घर या दीवारें खड़ा करता था।लाल सब कुछ जानते हुए भी सिर्फ लोगों की झूठी वाहवाही लूटने और अपनी पर्सनैलिटी बढ़ाने में पागल था। वो अभी +2 में था। एक दिन उसने अपने पापा से कहा, “मुझे साइकिल दिला दो, मेरे सभी दोस्त साइकिल लेकर आते हैं।” पापा बोले, “अभी पैसे नहीं हैं, जब होंगे तो ज़रूर दिला दूंगा।”
