Who Dares Win

Who Dares Win

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more than any man who has got by heart a whole library. ”

- Swami Vivekananda

“Who dares win”….. Is all about the tendency to dare to be different, dare to accept the challenges which the life is paving in our way. First of all make a goal or have a dream. The next step perhaps is to live on that idea and this is a very interesting process. You should experience that idea at all level. If you want to buy a car, go test ride that car whether you have money at present or not, just do it. If you want to buy a house, go and see such houses, ask about price of that house and work on that matter. Sometimes, close your eyes and experience that you are having it. During this stage maintain high level of happiness and positive thinking. Remember that a positive thought is more powerful than thousands of Negative thoughts. Never get frustrated because it will destroy your vision. Sidetrack all other ideas and focus completely in your goal. You should have enough faith in your ideas and your goal. We don’t know how much time it will take but it will definitely work. The last and the most important step is to achieve. Yes, if you dare to dream, you will complete the dream. These teachings are as old as Lord Buddha and they have been interpreted over centuries by writers, philosophers and in modern day by scientists too. This is the secret behind the great men who changed the lives of millions in the world. Even Swami Vivekananda asked all the countrymen to follow this in his teachings….My dear friends what are you waiting for? Dream…Dream Open Eyed Dreams……

“To succeed, you must have tremendous perseverance, tremendous will. ‘I will drink the ocean;’ says the persevering soul, ‘at my Will Mountains will crumble up.’ Have that sort of energy, that sort of will, work hard, and you will reach the goal.

- Swami Vivekananda

Will Power is the very thing we have to develop and strengthen. ‘Can Do’ spirit and never accepting defeat – spirit is must in present context. In English it is said, “Never die before death.” The message is quite clear. When you are set for a big task or when you are challenging yourself, you should have a strong will power. Men with iron will or men with strong will have been mentioned throughout the course of history. Take the example of Hanumanji. When Hanumanji was very young, he disturbed a sage. The Rushi cursed that Hanumanji will forget all his powers because he used them carelessly. Then, Anjanimata prayed and asked for forgiveness and the Rushi blessed Hanumanji that he would regain the powers when someone made him aware about those powers. Years passed, Hanumanji met Rama who was in search of Sita. A messenger told that Sita was in somewhere in Lanka. It was necessary for Hanumanji to cross the ocean in order to go there. Hanumanji was in dilemma whether he could jump and cross the ocean. At that time Jambuvan- the bear king reminded him of his powers and told that Hanumanji could easily jump and fly and cross the ocean and added that he could break mountains with one blow. Hanumanji soon realized his powers and accomplished the task. What is the message for us? That power was will power and also self belief. In the present context, we don’t need to helter-skelter when the things are going on wrong; we have to stand for what we believe. Our will power must be a driving force for our actions.

“Feeling sad…………..think me.”

“Feeling tense…………..call me.”

“Feeling lost…………..remember me.”

“Feeling sleepy…………..dream me.”

“Feeling alone…………..feel me.”

Who am I?

- I am your self confidence….Never lose me.

Self Confidence is the thing which we have to focus seriously. Most of the people lose because of lack of self confidence. The roots of low self confidence or lack of self confidence has deep roots in childhood. Since childhood many of us experience cold feet in doing in or other work. In public life, I have seen many people or rather many big names who are frightened when a microphone is given to them or when they are asked to speak something to the public. Actually, they are very knowledgeable and successful people but they cannot speak in front of public because they have one kind of fear or phobia. In one occasion, my friend who was sitting close to me was asked by the host of the program to speak a few words on the given topic. My friend had prepared that topic well. When he went to the stage, he could not speak properly and obviously people began to laugh. What is the reason? The reason is lack of self confidence.

My dear friends, the key to develop self confidence is to work hard. Whatever you are doing, work hard in your work. If you are a teacher, prepare your topic properly. If you are a manager, you have to study psychology of all your employees, you have to keep an eye on their work, and you have to check their work. If you are a student, you have the responsibility to prove yourself. “If you don’t practice, you don’t deserve to win.” The best time to boost self confidence is the leisure time. Many sit idly watching T.V. or on social networking sites. The leisure time should be spent on self improvement. My advice to spend leisure time is either to read a book on good topic or to go on an adventure trip. These both methods will help you to have new experiences and they will give you new thoughts and also recharge yourself.

“Concentration is the secret of strength.”

- Emerson

Concentration is one of the keys to success. We have to practice and concentrate on our work. The more we work, the more we concentrate on it and the more success we achieve. A study was made about Highway accidents. The results of the study shocked everyone stating that most of the accidents occurred because of the drivers who felt sleepy during the late midnight hours and they caused terrible accidents. Got the point? It is quite simple, even the experienced and skilled drivers resulted in accidents because they couldn’t concentrate on their driving. It was suggested by the committee that the drivers should put his family photo of small size opposite to him in his cabin. The idea really worked. When drivers felt sleepy, they just glanced at their family photo and soon realised that they have to keep them happy and their top priority was to reach the destination safely. The number of accidents reduced gradually. Message for us is quite simple – concentrate on your work if you want to be successful. Even if you don’t like the present work, you should concentrate on it because it will help you to move forward….

When you lack concentration, you lose opportunities. Every cricket lover knows that Herschel Gibbs was one of the best fielders of South Africa after Rhodes. In a World Cup Semi-final match, South Africa was in winning position when Australian Captain gave a catch to Gibbs. Gibbs in over excitement dropped the catch. Then, Australian skipper played a wonderful knock and they won. Australian skipper went to Gibbs and told in his ears “You have not dropped a catch but you have dropped the match.” See the difference of concentration level.

Steve Waugh played beautifully after being dropped by Gibbs because he was able to concentrate more on his batting. On the other hand, Gibbs who dropped the catch was shattered and couldn’t concentrate on his game. Australia moved forward to win the World Cup due to this incident. Dear all, we have to concentrate on our work wherever we are and whatever we are. Great sages used to concentrate on their work i.e. Meditation. If you still doubt the power of concentration, take the example of sun rays. You might have done the experiment of focusing sunlight on a paper by a magnifying lens. In few minutes time paper starts burning. The message is quite clear even sun rays are less effective unless they are concentrated. We have to concentrate all over rays of skills on one thing and the result will be definitely positive. Concentration on our work and concentration on our character will help us in all tasks.

“Character is like a tree, and reputation is like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.”

  • g. Boardman
  • Character is our biggest wealth. Here, our discussion is the character which builds an individual. Character is the sum total of one’s ethics, morals, values and beliefs. Character building starts from an early age and it is also affected by surroundings and in atmosphere where one is raised up. One thing is quite clear; we can change our character by forming good habits in our day to day life. Let me give you one example. My friend Vaibhav once complained me that everyday he has to beat his son because his son was wild and playing nuisance pranks. I got interested in that matter. I paid a courtesy visit to his house and inquired his wife about the matter. On the contrary, his wife complained that his husband was short-tempered man and sometimes he beat the child on trifles. I was quite puzzled by the case. I told her that she should record if such a thing happens the next day. She recorded the entire video by a hidden camera. I watched the video and I was shocked that Vaibhav beat his son without any reason. I showed that video to Vaibhav and boldly told him that his short tempered nature was responsible for all those mishaps. Vaibhav confessed but now he insisted to control his anger. I said to him, “Do you behave with same manner to your boss?” He replied negatively. I gave him an idea. “Whenever you are angry imagine that your boss is standing in front of you”. The idea was quite useful for him. The message is quite clear “Check you habits, soon the habits will transform into character and the character will transform into your destiny.”

In jobs or in business, our character will be tested in each and every moment. If you are facing a cut throat competition, your abilities will be tested. If you are facing a rival, your strategy will be tested. In an admission procedure, we have seen 1-mark competition. If you have 1 mark less than the cut-off marks, your name will be omitted. In close cricket matches, we have seen the sides winning by 1 run. This means that the winner or loser has difference of just 1% and that 1% is character. The stronger your character is, the more will be your chances to win…

    “win……. Win……win……. & win………...”

Go on bravely. I don’t know which the road to success is but I know that the road which has hard work will lead us to the road to success. You might have heard the phrase “Out of the blue”. I like it very much. The simplest idea is think “Out of the blue”; think something which others have never imagined. Have patience while you work on it. Give yourself sufficient time to prove yourself. Be not afraid. Think not how many times you fail. Learn from your mistakes and try to find out “What went wrong?”

Always challenge your limits. Always challenge yourself. If you find new task difficult, don’t leave it. Put some extra efforts. Take the help of other who have successfully accomplished it. Remove any ego if it is present in your mind. Jealousy and ego are our two great enemies, they lead us to nowhere.

We are the greatest creation of Father God. He is watching us and He is with us. Leave all your worries and all your fears aside. I know that you will dare and you will definitely win……

Yes, We can and yes, We will make a difference
