We have all had that one special day where the morning sky is totally covered in thick, dark clouds. A sudden, scary boom of loud thunder shakes the windows and wakes you up from your sleep. At that happy moment, we all think that we will get a free day at home. You almost start dancing around your bedroom in pure joy, thinking about the fun games you could play inside. Then, just as fast, the sky changes back to a clear blue with a hot sun shining down. Your parents tell you to get ready and go to school, and you have no choice but to do what they say. You walk to school with a sad face, getting mad at the short rain and asking why it did not keep raining.
Right as the morning prayer starts, the big, dark clouds roll back in to cover the blue sky again. As soon as you sit down for your first class, the big, heavy drops of rain start to fall fast against the window glass. Your upset mind right away becomes very calm because of the cool wind and the sweet smell of the wet dirt outside. Still, you are also angry at the same time, asking yourself why the heavy rain did not start a little bit earlier so you would not have had to come to school today. The boring classes begin, but your eyes stay fully stuck on the falling rain outside. You want so badly to run outside and play in the water, but you cannot do it.
As the lunch bell rings through the noisy halls, the head teacher tells everyone that all students must stay inside and eat in the long, wide hallway. Not listening to the teacher, some kids happily run out into the falling rain and get all wet. You also want to run out and get soaked, but you hold back because your mom and dad told you clearly not to get wet at school. The dark clouds seem to fully block out the bright sun. By that time, the loud thunder gets even more scary and loud, shaking the whole building and scaring some of the smaller kids in the class.
At last, the long, boring school day comes to an end, and you step outside the big front gates. But then you suddenly remember that you did not bring an umbrella with you because you were so very sure there would be no more rain today. Left with no other way to get back home, you step into the heavy rain and get completely wet anyway. All around the wet play area, some happy kids are jumping and splashing around in the pools of water, filled just high enough to cover their shoes. At the exact same time, some younger kids carefully make little paper boats and float them in the moving, cold rain water. And just like that, the long, fun, wet day at school finally ends.
