Chasing butterflies …….

He was in the fields looking after the necessary works as usual. But he could not behave in the normal way. If what he was suspecting was right, it not at all would be pleasant to him. As he was looking at the greenery before and talking with the labour there he heard some sound behind and looked back.
His fear had come true and his heart jumped at once. There was Sukanya standing behind him. She was straight looking at him and there was a smile on her lips. She was quite different now and even more stunningly beautiful as she was slipped into a traditional wear of sari and blouse.
“Oh, you came!” he did not know what to say except that. His puzzlement was quite clear in his face.
“Yes I came. It is not a new place to me at all, you know.” Looking around standing there Sukanya said.
“Alright then. Enjoy yourself. Don’t think otherwise, I have to indulge myself in some important work now.” Saying so Vineet once again tried to be busy with the labour.
“But I have come here for you.” Interrupting him Sukanya said.
“For me? I cannot understand.” Vineet did not feel much surprise. He did expect it to some extent.
“Yes. For you. I want you to show me the lands here.” Coming near to him Sukanya said.
“I have to show the lands to you? Moments before you said that this place is not new to you.” With a smile on his lips Vineet said.
“Of course. This place is not new to me. But I don’t know about these vast lands of Madan’s family. You have to show me and explain to me.” Looking straight into the face of Vineet, she said.
The labour people around them were looking at them both interestingly. The situation had become quite uneasier to Vineet. He felt a little irritation but he did not show it to her.
“Then just wait for few minutes. I shall finish talking with these people and then come to you.” As there was no other way to him to escape, Vineet said.
Sukanya nodded her head. It had taken another five minutes to Vineet to finish talking with the labour people. After taking the directions from him, those people left that place.
“Shall we start now seeing the fields?” looking at him again Sukanya asked.
Vineet nodded his head and said “come with me.” Sukanya so obediently started after him.
“Lands of Madan’s family are very vast. It is not possible to see all the lands in one day.”
Sukanya was trying to walk quite carefully on the narrow mud lines which dividing the fields from one another. As they were passing through the lands so, he explained about the lands and the crops they planted in them. They had planted several types of crops like sugarcane, paddy, ground nut, etc.
“I am feeling so good. This place is appearing very beautiful to me.” Sukanya exclaimed with happiness.
“Even we are seeing these places everyday, we too feel so good and these lands appear so beautiful to us. You have spent all your time upto now only in a town where pollution is the only known thing. There is no surprise if you feel a lot good here.”
She was like a small child then and the happiness in her face was amusing to him. He did not know why but he was feeling happier being with her there.
“You are right. Now I don’t want to leave this place at all.”
He suddenly turned back and her eyes met with his eyes. She could not understand the exact expression in his face and eyes but there was surely uneasiness in them.
There was no one else around and the sunrise was not much fierce but their bodies were feeling the warmth of it. With the waving air the paddi plants in the fields undulating like a green colour lake. He felt even more uneasy when she moved close to him. Now she was quite near to him and he was feeling her breath on his chest.
“I want to say something to you.” It had become difficult to her to keep her eyes with his as he was darting them this side to that side. He could not feel comfortable looking into her face.
What she was going to say? His heart made a leap. “Tell me what it is?” with difficulty fixing his eyes on her face Vineet asked.
“Please forgive me. I want to say sorry to you for my past behavior. I have hurt your feelings many a time in the past. For that please forgive me.” The genuineness in her face was quite clear.
“You were quite young then. Without much maturity and thought. There was no surprise that you behaved like that. I never have taken seriously your behavior in the past.” Vineet relieving himself said.
“No, it is not so. I should not have behaved like that at all. Unless you forgive me I cannot remain peaceful.” Taking his right hand into her hands she said.
He at once felt as if current was flowing all over his body through that hand. Her hands were smooth and good and slowly they tightened around his hand. He wanted to withdraw his hand from them but he could not. The pleasure he was feeling because of her holding his hand so not letting him relinquish that grip. The touch was so delicious and the little sweat in her palms felt cool on his hand.
“If that is what troubling you, alright I am forgiving you. Just forget all about that.” Using all his power and against his heart’s intent he tried to remove his hand from her hands but she held it tight in her hands and did not let it go.
“I am feeling so happy on hearing it from you. Can we be friends then?” the sudden smile on her lips made her face even more glamorous.
“We are already friends, are not we?” her smile was contagious. It caused a smile immediately on his lips as well.
She nodded her head and left his hand. He felt relieved but groaned as he lost the smooth touching pleasure.
“You are appearing quite exhausted. Shall we go home? You are not accustomed to walk in the heat in this way.” She made her hair like a pony tail with a rubber band on the back of her head. Some of the hairs escaped from it and fall on the face and plastered to it with the sweat on it.
“I am sweating a little of course, but this sunrise is not much fierce. In fact I want to walk like this all the day to any length of distance.” She smiled again.
“Alright. For some more time we wander like this and then go to home.” He started walking once again on the fields. “As I said before, it is difficult to see whole these lands on a single day. We shall come tomorrow as well.”
“I feel quite happy to do that.” Even she was appearing exhausted her activeness was not lessened. While they were walking like that they were talking many a thing.
“I think Susmitha said everything about Mamatha to you.” in between after a few minutes pause Sukanya said.
Vineet suddenly stopped and looked at her. “It seems that she has said everything to you too.”
“Yes she did.” Sukanya nodded her head.
“That means you both have already become good friends.”
“Yes, we have become good friends.” She confirmed.
“How much she said about Mamatha and related matters?”
“Everything! She did leave nothing.” She paused for a moment and then said. “I have given the word that I would solve her problem.”
“Just like I did. Just like my brother and sister in law did.” He smiled. “What else we do except that? I am feeling very much pitiful to Madan. Future is going to be very tough to him for some days.”
“Not just to Madan, to Susmitha also.” She nodded her head. “I am feeling pity for Mamatha as well. It should not have happened like that to her. Madan should not ….” She tried to say something.
“Shhh…… No.” putting the finger on his lips he said observing some people were coming towards them. They were some of the labour going in that way. Once they came to that place and went away from there Vineet said. “Yes. He should not have left her like that. That was indeed a very bad thing. He did not say that incident to anyone else either.”
They both were silent for some time. “Alright I shall come here tomorrow as well. May I go back now?” she said as if she were asking permission
“Can you go all alone? Or may I come with you?”
She laughed loudly and that mellifluous laughter filled his heart with another sort of pleasure. “I have come all alone here. And it is still afternoon and I am not a child.”
“Alright then.” He nodded his head.

Sukanya felt some satisfaction as she had got little success in her mission. Still there was some rigidity in him and that need to be removed. For what he was hesitating himself to be free with her she could not understand. She knew about many boys who compete with each other to make friendship with her but she never allowed anyone to develop more intimacy with her. She never felt proud on that fact, but she knew that she was immensely beautiful.
But why this glamour was not attracting Vineet? She sensed his eagerness to withdraw his hand from her. If it were anyone else he would have advanced even more to develop intimacy with her. But his trying to be detached from her so, was making her even more and more attracted towards him.
‘I have to do something.’ She decided in herself strongly. ‘At the next available opportunity I shall make Vineet glue with me all the time.’ She had taken the pillow near to her and hugged it with all her might and put her chin on that. She started imagining how it would if she hugged Vineet in this way. The very thought created pleasure waves in her. His small beard sure would tickle her face. The one thing she did not like in him was that beard. Once she got full grip on him she sure would see that he cleanly shave his face.
While she was thinking like that she heard footsteps and turned her face towards that direction. Susmitha entered into that room. Seeing Susmitha so in her room, Sukanya at once sat on the bed.
“Sorry, I disturbed you it seems.” Feeling guilty Susmitha said. “I could not get time pass in my room. So I have come here.”
“You did a very nice thing. I am also suffering with the same problem.” Her broad smile assured Susmitha that Sukanya did not feel any uncomfortability by her entering into her room so.
“You may better come straight and sit on this bed. It can accommodate two people easily.” Sliding herself to the side and making room on the bed for Susmitha, Sukanya said.
“You are right. Sure it does.” Coming and sitting in the place made for her Susmitha said. “I did not see you in the home for the last one or two hours. Where did you go?”
“I went into the fields.” Sukanya said. “It was so good and beautiful there. I enjoyed that a lot.” Remembering the moments that she spent there with Vineet, Sukanya said.
