Special sweet
Kishori sat alone on the bench in the garden, lost in thought.
Suddenly, her girl group joined her, settling down beside her. She noticed their eyes fixed on her, filled with questions.
Kishori frowned lightly.“What? What happened?"
Ruchi fired the first question without hesitation.“How can you do this?”
Kishori blinked in confusion. “Do what?”
Aanandi leaned forward, her voice sharp. “You’re marrying someone else, but you proposed to Manav publicly.”
Kishori smiled faintly, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Oh… I thought you girls came to congratulate me, but instead, you’re questioning me?”
Sanjana’s voice trembled with frustration. “What’s wrong with you, Kishori? Why don’t you answer directly? Just tell us the truth!”
Kishori waved her hand dismissively. “And why should I? Why are you asking me all this?”
Her voice rose slightly as she added "Yes, I proposed to him publicly. But did he accept? No! My parents found a groom—handsome, rich, powerful. They asked me, and I said yes. Did I do anything wrong?”
The girls exchanged uneasy glances. They didn’t agree with her, but none dared to argue further.
After a pause, Aanandi asked again in a softer tone,“Then… why are you leaving the college?”
Kishori only smiled, saying nothing this time. Her silence spoke louder than words. A little distance away, unseen by the girls, Manav stood still. He had heard every word. His heart tightened, his eyes clouded with pain, yet he remained silent—watching, listening, feeling every cut of her denial. Suddenly, Kishori lifted her eyes and froze.
In front of her, Manav was leaving the college on his bike. Her chest tightened painfully, but she forced a smile to hide it.

🍲 (Cooking Ritual) 🍲
In the new home, Ketki was cooking carefully, every gesture filled with love. When the meal was ready, everyone gathered around the dining table. Madhavi helped Ketki with a smile, arranging the dishes.
Just then, Gyan headed outside.
“Gyan, come,” Madhavi called.
He hesitated. “Mom… I’m getting late.”
Ketki felt a little hurt but said nothing. Madhavi’s voice hardened. “Shut up. Today is your wife’s first cooking ritual. She prepared food for the first time—you must eat.”
Gyan muttered, “Oh.”
He sat at the table reluctantly.
Madhavi gestured, “Serve him.”
Ketki gently served the sweet milk-rice to him. Gyan took the first bite and murmured,“Huh… it’s very tasty.”
Ketki moved to serve more with the spoon, but suddenly Gyan stopped her. “I need all of it.”
The family stared at him in shock. Shakti protested, “At least let us taste—”
But Gyan cut him off sharply. “Shut up! She is my wife. You said I have the first right on her cooking. Then I’ll eat it all.”
Everyone looked at him in surprise as he devoured the entire dish. Madhavi frowned. “What kind of behavior is this?” But Gyan replied without a trace of shame,“I liked this dish.” He glanced at Ketki and ordered,“Go and cook it again.” Ketki quietly picked up the empty bowl and went back into the kitchen. Her eyes dropped as she whispered to herself, “Sweet dish should be made only once for this ritual, not again and again. But he said it’s delicious, so he ate it all…”
Almost absentmindedly, she rubbed her finger inside the bowl, tasting the leftover rice.
The moment she tasted, she spat it out.“Oh God! I added salt instead of sugar!”
Covering her face in shame, she whispered ,“Gyanji saved me from being insulted…”

This time Ketki prepared the sweet dish with extra care. When she stepped out of the kitchen carrying the bowl, she noticed Gyan was already gone.
She smiled faintly.
Madhavi teased, “Now serve us. Let us see how your cooking tastes—the same food my son was so desperate for.”
Ketki gently served her mother-in-law with love and a soft smile. But when she placed the bowl before Shakti, she avoided his eyes completely .

📖 Scene – Kishori’s Call 📖
Far away, Kishori sat with a book open before her, but the words blurred. A heavy suffocation pressed against her chest.
Unable to hold it in, she dialed her sister’s number.
The phone clicked. “Hello… yes, Kishu?” Ketki’s warm voice answered.
Kishori’s breath broke into sobs. “Di… di… I’m so sorry. Are you fine?”
Ketki spoke gently, steady as always. “Yes, I’m fine. What happened?”
Through tears, Kishori whispered,
“Di, if you’re stuck in any problem… please… please tell me. Don’t hide it from me.”
But Ketki’s voice turned firm. “Dear, everything is fine. Please concentrate on your studies. Okay?”
Kishori sniffed,“Yes, di…”
She ended the call, clutching the phone to her chest, her tears wetting the open book.
Kishori said herself "every a minute is precious for you , di, please be safe."
She ended the call and pressed the phone to her chest. Tears dripped onto the open pages of her book.
Softly, she whispered to herself,
“Every minute is precious for you, di… please be safe.”
