The Monkey and the Crocodile:
Intro:
Once upon a time, in a bright and happy forest, there was a gentle river. The river sparkled under the warm sun. On the riverbank stood a big, green tree. It was full of red, shiny apples that looked sweet and yummy.
High in the tree lived a happy little monkey. He loved to swing from branch to branch and eat the juicy apples.
Down by the river lived a big crocodile. He was sleepy, warm, and sometimes very hungry.
One sunny day, the monkey and the crocodile met, and their adventure began…
The Monkey and the Crocodile
Once upon a time, a gentle river flowed. The water was soft and shiny.
On the riverbank, there was a big tree. The tree had red, shiny apples.
The apples hung happily on the branches.
The tree whispered to the wind, “Pick me! Pick me! I am sweet and yummy!”
High up in the tree, a little monkey sat.
The monkey was happy. He smiled. He looked at the river.
He looked at the sun. He looked at the forest.
“Oh! What a happy day!” said the monkey.
Down by the river, a big crocodile slept.
The sun was warm. The breeze was soft. The crocodile yawned.
“Ahhh… nice and warm,” said the crocodile.
He opened one eye and saw the red apples on the tree.
“Mmm… those apples look yummy!” thought the crocodile.
The monkey picked a red, shiny apple.
He looked at the crocodile and smiled.
Then he tossed the apple down.
Plop! The apple fell on the ground.
The crocodile opened his big mouth. Chomp!
He ate the apple. Mmm… sweet!
He smiled. The monkey clapped and laughed.
Day after day, the monkey picked apples.
Day after day, the crocodile ate them.
They laughed. They played.
The crocodile splashed water.
The monkey swung on branches.
Splash! Swing! Laugh! Fun!
Across the river, the crocodile’s wife watched.
She was jealous. “Why does my husband play with the monkey?” she said.
She thought and thought.
Then she said, “Bring the monkey! I want his sweet heart!”
The clever monkey heard her plan.
“Oh no! I must run!” said the monkey.
He climbed the tree fast.
He jumped from branch to branch.
He ran to a high branch. He hid.
The crocodile came to the river.
“Monkey! Come! Let’s ride on my back!” he said.
The monkey looked at him. “Hmm… okay,” said the monkey.
He climbed on the crocodile’s back.
Splash! They went into the river.
In the middle of the river, the crocodile spoke slowly.
“My wife… she wants… your heart…” he said.
The monkey was surprised.
“Oh no! I must escape!” said the monkey.
The clever monkey jumped! Boing!
He grabbed a branch. Swing! Swing! Swing!
He reached the riverbank.
“Goodbye, crocodile! I cannot be friends with someone who lies!”
The crocodile felt sad.
The monkey felt happy.
He swung back to his tree.
He ate apples. He laughed.
The monkey sat on his tree.
He watched the river.
The crocodile stayed in the river.
They remembered their fun days.
But the monkey knew he must be careful.
The sun went down. The moon came up.
The forest was quiet.
The monkey slept. Zzz…
The crocodile slept. Zzz…
And they lived happily, far apart, but always remembering their days of fun.
The moral of the story
“Be clever and careful when dealing with others. True friends bring joy, but you should protect yourself from those who may not have good intentions.”
