This was my first day in my college. I was a bit nervous. I had hardly operated smartphones let alone computers. In the administrative building ,during my fees submission and hostel allotment i had fairly realised that here everything revolves around tech and all hardworks that one does to get into reputed engineering colleges is left behind. It reminded me of a very famous traditional saying"dharma changes with space and time". So my new dharma was to pull up my shocks and get up to new challenge- getting acquaintace with tech beasts, computers.I started spending good amount of time and energy in computer centre(CC). Now another challenge presented itself. As saying goes-"excess of anything and everything is evil" and CC was not an exception. It was taking serious toll my health- physical, mental and social . I gained weight ,became impulsive and became like the Robin sharma's novel hero , the monk who had ultimately to sell his ferrari to regain himself ,his soul, with the only exception that i was not yet as successful as him, not even an iota of him. So in a way i was on verge of getting demonitised even before becoming a fiat currency , before coming out of minting house. somehow I passed the semester exam and took a huge sigh of relief as the torture was over . My trade was civil not computer and had gained by the time good idea about operational aspects of computers and smartphones to not feel odd among techies in tech college.
But as the luck would have it, my life took a one hundred and eighty degree turn when I got the opportunity to visit sena bhavan one day. Purely accidental. college Robotic club had planned a visit to that auspicious Bhavan and luckily my friend asked me whether i wanted. I readily accepted. I mean only an idiot would reject such opportunities. Inside sena bhavan an army official received us and escorted us to an auditorium .After three - four minutes that senior official accompanied by another one entered the hall. We all were in awe, aura, persona vibrancy and above all the vibes of patriotism emanating were just mesmerising. Then one of them went to the podium to address us while other officer sat among us. He started - we are living in tech driven age and who would know better than you, youngsters. And warfare is not an exception. It has evolved at much faster pace outlieing any past predictions and assumptions. To be battle ready we must be self reliant in techends .Thereafter we were presented a problem statement ,concerning with drones -to build a high alitude long endurance drone equipped with stealth features. Now the sweltering and exhausting hours that i had spent in CC ,all of a sudden became relevant beyond semester exams. I became part of remote control (RC) team and I no longer felt CCs as dreaded . Finally the drone saw the light of the day. Army officials watched the demo and placed orders. Now I keep learning more and more coding languages and am always in a bid to give the best product to our forces.
