The Strength Behind Silent Pain

I suddenly met this man,
I saw how bitter he was,
I couldn’t just look away, like everyone else did.
Too afraid to express it, but his eyes were full of pain,
I could feel how life was draining his strength.
Unsure how to go on, he allowed me to reach out my hand to give him strength.
Marked and broken by life, he chose to be cold forever.
Life is simply more bearable when one lives like a stone.
Feelings are no longer needed and the pain becomes less intense.
But his soul sought peace as he came closer to me.
His heart screams for help, even if he claims he doesn’t have one.
He just wants to feel nothing that deepens his pain.
But why should a man admit he needs help, who even listens to them?
Too often, this is simply ignored even though they need someone to hold them.
He is strong — every day he wakes up, every day he lives, and a new day begins.
He writes stories and poems, so wonderful as if shaped by God himself, expressing beauty in words.
Even when he wants to give up, he stays strong — his strength fading, but hope still remains.
He wants to feel again, to experience love, joy, and fun.
He doesn’t give up, he takes my hand again and again, I pull him out of the hole he falls into every time.
I won’t give up, my hand will always be there — even when he can’t go on anymore, I won’t leave his side.
He deserves to be saved, I know one day he will heal — slowly but surely he will open up again to life, to see the wonders hidden within it.
He has a good heart, but it cries silently, I can feel it and see it in his writing.
He doesn’t want to admit he has a heart, because he’s too afraid of losing the last thing he has left.
He wants to feel — just not pain anymore.
But to experience joy, he must accept that he must face his pain.
He has to let go of his pain to process it, to make space for beautiful things.
He is a good man who has simply been through too much.
He will still find his better half and be happier than ever before.

These are the words that keep me alive,
that give me purpose and strength to keep living,
that reach out a caring hand to pull me from the darkest places,
that gave me a life when no one else seemed to care.
I am forever grateful to you — you are my everything, now and always.
